Inspecting Defense Equipment in the UAE, Navy Chief of Staff Studies Technology and Explores Modernization Options
The Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL), Admiral Muhammad Ali, is seeking options to modernize the Indonesian Navy's combat capabilities, one of which is reviewing defense equipment technology from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This was revealed by the Head of the Navy Information Service (Kadispenal), Rear Admiral Tunggul, in response to a post on the official Instagram account @republikorp, Tuesday (August 5) about Ali's visit to the UAE.
In the post, Ali, along with UAE Navy Commander Major General Humaid Mohammed Alremeithi, were listening to a presentation from defense company Edge Group regarding the specifications of the Rabdan 8x8 amphibious combat vehicle.
"The KSAL visited Edge Group to witness a demonstration of the mobility and capabilities of the Rabdan 8x8 amphibious vehicle, one of the UAE armed forces' mainstays," Tunggul told Indonesia Defense Magazine in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 6).
When asked about the planned purchase of Rabdan armored vehicles to strengthen the combat capabilities of the Indonesian Navy, particularly the Marine Corps, Tunggul stated that modernizing defense equipment is a necessity for the Indonesian military.
"Reviewing defense equipment produced by friendly countries is certainly aimed at learning the latest technology, establishing defense cooperation, and seeking the best options for modernizing the Indonesian Navy's defense equipment," Tunggul said.
