Jakarta (26/09) – The famous aerospace and defense company from the United States, Boeing, visited the KKIP office, D.I Building. Panjaitan Ministry of Defense, Central Jakarta on Monday, September 25 2023, at 13.00 WIB. The Boeing delegation was led by Mr. Ian Smith (Senior Manager of Boeing International Strategic Partnerships) and accompanied by Mr. Dale McDowall (BDS VP of Business Development of Southeast Asia), Mr. Zaid Alami (Boeing Country Managing Director), and Mr. Landry Haryo Subianto (Boeing Indonesia Head of ASEAN and Indonesia Government Relations).

Head of Technology Transfer and Offset KKIP, Dr. Yono Reksoprodjo, DIC., received the Boeing delegation directly in the KKIP meeting room, accompanied by KKIP Coordinator Rear Admiral TNI (Ret.) Dr. Mulyadi, S.Pi, and Expert Staff for Budgeting Ir. Gatot Tetuko.

The meeting discussed potential offsets in connection with the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the procurement of F-15 aircraft some time ago. Boeing promises several added values that can be obtained by Indonesia in accordance with the trade compensation scheme, local content and offsets that apply according to the provisions of Indonesian law.

Dr. Yono Reksoprodjo suggested that the beneficiaries of the domestic Boeing partnership be extended to private business entities that have a lot of potential. Another thing that is also of concern is the implementation of Boeing offset pooling in Indonesia.

The meeting was warm between the two parties. The Boeing delegation said that the meeting really answered their information needs. The meeting closed at 15.00 WIB.

How is NORINCO have anything to do with Harimau ?
Harimau hull with ZTQ-15 or VT-5 turret perhaps ? i hoped it was only for interim batch of next harimau procurement, i rather wait the one that will be developed by FNSS and pindad.

This is why I'm asking iirc the turret will either be colab with FNSS and/or locally designed. Never heard abt NORINCO putting their hands on Harimau project

Rhan-122B with free standing method production motor burn time is 3.3 seconds for comparison.

Janes earlier reported that PT Pindad has been producing the R-Han 122B for the Indonesian Marine Corps on a low-rate initial production (LRIP) basis since 2017, but the service needs more than 1,000 rounds of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and inertial navigation system (GPS/INS)-guided weapon across its three divisions by 2024.

The R-Han 122B has a calibre of 122 mm, an overall length of 2,810 mm, and is driven by a hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN) rocket motor, according to PT Pindad.

The weapon has a 3.3 second burn time and can carry payloads weighing up to 15 kg over a maximum range of 35 km at a speed of Mach 1.8.

So RHAN-122B will be produced by Pindad as ( lead integrator ?) Pindad production capacity will still be limited by how much Dahana could provide the motor imo.

12:00 timestamp onwards

It was also said by the President of SSB (Defence Acquisition - Industry Presidency) during and after the ceremony that there are intentions within TR to form a cooperation for turrets (for general light armoured vehicles) and it is also considered to be done in cooperation with Indonesia for the MT turret.

However, nothing concrete came out regarding the MT turret, the rest for TR's own needs is being negotiated within the SSB.

Nothing set in stone yet for that.

This is why I'm asking iirc the turret will either be colab with FNSS and/or locally designed. Never heard abt NORINCO putting their hands on Harimau project
FNSS is partly owned by an American company, and the tank itself probably contains American-made components. It therefore seems a bit far-fetched, even if Pindad is considering to go solo.
