A few minutes ago, explosions were reported in the Strait of Hormuz and near Kharg Island, southern Iran.

Also, air defenses in the Hormozgan Province have been put on "red alert", there's a possibility that the U.S. is conducting airstrikes on Iranian oil tankers.

5 men have been arrested near the RAF base at Fairford, southern England. The men are suspected of explosives offences and terrorism offences. The base is also used by the USAF.

An Iranian-linked motive is considered the most likely, a source familiar with the investigation said, while a Russian sabotage operation or an Islamist plot were also being looked at.

Britain said in July its armed forces were ready to protect the country from any attack after Iran's Revolutionary Guards warned it not to allow US bombers to fly from Fairford, saying any base used to launch attacks would be a legitimate target.

• Shadow Warfare: The high volume of ship-to-ship oil transfers off Sohar's coast opens the door to stray drone strikes, cyber sabotage, or accidental maritime disasters that could ruin its reputation as a safe Haven.

The Remus 600 underwater drone is used for reconnaissance and mine countermeasures; it can operate at depths of up to 600 meters for as long as 70 hours. The Dive-LD belongs to the class of large unmanned underwater vehicles, with a gross weight approaching three tons. Its design features a 3D-printed hull, yet the vehicle is capable of diving to depths of approximately 6,000 meters. Depending on the specific configuration, the Dive-LD can remain at sea for about ten days.
