Russian units have begun to receive the Varan tracked robotic complex, despite the fact that it is still being finalized, some of the robots were tested in the troops back in 2024. The DUP-2 turret from Radart is currently being adapted for use on the robot. It is already planned to begin serial production, up to 300 units per month. The Varan tracked drone was developed by the Moscow company Frobotics. The Varan robotic platform is designed for the installation of various weapons and trailers, including machine guns, ATGMs and grenade launchers. The Varan tracked drone can also be used for transport purposes, including it can be equipped with explosives. When used to evacuate the wounded, it can take out up to four people on drags. The robot can be used for assault actions, it diverts fire to itself and suppresses firing points. The Varan robot has waterproof electronics, it can cross a small river or reservoir along the bottom. Now the robot can be controlled using the Hermes system, as well as FPV drones, at a distance of up to 10 km, the developers are also testing communications via satellite, cable and fiber optics. The carrying capacity of the Varan robot is up to 200 kg, the weight of the cargo transported on sleds is up to 300 kg. The robot develops a speed of up to 50 km / h and can work up to 8 hours.
