Currently we have:

F-22 - active
F-35 - active
J-20 - limited service
Su-57 & J-31 - close to entering the service

KFX - first prototype construction.

No offence but isn't developing a full state of the art turbofan engine in 7 years very difficult?

I will have to take the first firing date announced by the maker of the engine in consideration which is 2025 (?) to base my guesses. This engine comes after the makers have gathered experience in making engines. So the timeline may have been shortened somewhat. It may sound optimistic but it is reasonable. I believe when you have figured out what to do it is up to your hard work when to do it.

J-31 will become J-35 and those Chinese members in other forum just said they dont know what will be coming up from that J-35 program. So it is actually not close yet, we will see whether J 35 has some what much different look or just similar design with current J 31 plus Naval type wings. If the design is rather similar so we would expect the development phase could be completed sooner than if the new program end up with much different design.
