Mali asks Denmark to withdraw troops immediately
Denmark has been asked to withdraw soldiers who contribute to missions in Mali, writes Reuters.

On Monday, Mali's government asked Denmark to immediately withdraw Danish soldiers who contribute to the French-led mission in the country.
It appears from a statement from the government according to the news agency Reuters.
Ritzau is trying to get the information confirmed by the State Department.
Last week, Denmark sent a team of fighters and a team of surgeons down to the mission called the Takuba Task Force.
It is part of Operation Barkhane, led by France.
According to Mali's government, Denmark has not consulted sufficiently with the government regarding the deployment of the Danish soldiers. Denmark has also allegedly not complied with the necessary protocols.
It is not immediately clear whether Mali is asking Denmark to withdraw all soldiers or just those who have recently arrived in the country.
The long-running Operation Barkhane aims to combat terrorism in the Sahel region and help the ability of local forces to combat terrorist groups.
Despite the efforts, however, Mali is still severely plagued by attacks by extremist groups. At the same time, the government has come to blows with the EU.
The reason is that the government has postponed an expected election next month for up to five years.
According to several sources, mercenaries from the controversial Russian Wagner group have also been hired to train the regime's soldiers.
At a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday in Brussels, it was agreed to impose sanctions if the regime in Mali does not change course.
This is what Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod says:
'There is agreement in the EU circle to continue working on sanctions that hit people who delay the transition to democracy. Or that threatens Mali's peace, security and stability, "says Jeppe Kofod.

Mali's government on Monday gave the French ambassador 72 hours to leave the country over "outrageous" comments by the French authorities about its transitional government, it said in a statement read on national television.
French foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Friday that Mali's ruling junta was "out of control" amid escalating tensions between the West African state and its European partners over military cooperation and elections.

He also called the junta illegitimate. French defence minister Florence Parly said on Saturday French troops would not stay in Mali if the price were too high.
"The French ambassador to Bamako was summoned and notified of a decision by the government inviting him to leave the national territory within 72 hours following hostile and outrageous comments by the French foreign affairs minister recently," the government statement said.

Macron should mind his own business, true.
But Mali should know that it's likely going to be France once more saving the day once Al-Qaeda reappears. Acting like its the West who wants to do vacation in Mali instead wont help.
The military junta must understand that they talk tough, while having other nationalities dying to keep them afloat and not getting rolled over by insurgents.

Azawad also reportedly shot down SU-25 operated by the air force of Mali. They are making great progress on the ground as we speak pushing into the city of Timbuktu. They are fighting mainly against Mali, but Wagner is also included in the fight. Some "rumors" circulating on Twitter that Algeria has opened its arms to having wagner in their southern borders.
Who is supporting the Azawad financially, and by intel is a great question

The Russian cargo plane that crashed in northern Mali belongs to the Russian Air Force and is usually used by the “Wagner” group.

Not yet clear if this was a mishap or someone was waiting with an IGLA near the airport. From what I can see it crashed just at the end of the runway. Damage looks bad though, many are dead if it was carrying mercenaries.

Greetings to Azawad! They seem to make strategic gains on the ground as they did back in 2012-2014. Even if they have limited means it still seems like they are fighting in an effective manner. Where do they get their support from, and who has trained their troops?
