Shame how the hostages could not be saved from those kurdish terrorists.
Unfortunately. I personally think that the operation was not a wise decision. The security was on a very high level and everything from terrain to the facility itself was prepared specially for hostages and the ability to execute them fast if something happens with multiple jail bar doors and courtain inside. There are also much thing that nobody can predict. For me that operation was mission impossible. All the factors there were on the opposite of the 3 main principles for surprise, violence of action and fire superiority were impossible to implement there. You can't have surprise, violence and fire superiority in a cave with 1 massive steel door, 6 jail bars, curtains and a 1.20m wide tunnel which is also 1.20m high (just enough so you can crawl).

How do you blow a massive steel door which is followed by a jail bar door (30cm further) in a cave and how can you move fast after all that debris trough a 120cm high tunnel so you can get to a point of which you have a visual to the main cell. The other two entry points are heavily guarded and the space is tight. Only one hand grenade is needed to take out the whole team. There is a section in the tunnel where the tunnel is tight and looking at the space and the character of the operation the effective use of shields is out of question. For me this is a mission impossible. I am sure our guys trained a lot but they were going for a mission impossible for me. I am 100% sure that the hostages were executed in the moment they heard the helicopters because you have a 3 drop points and probably other units securing perimeter and serving as JTAC and second line/supportive role other than the raid teams. That's a lot of noise let alone the other air strikes and planned activity of other units. Unfortunately it had to happen one way or another because Gara is very important and we had to enter that place sooner or later. Rest in Peace to all the martyrs lost their lives there. We should look with hope for new success as this paved the way for many more that are yet to come.

Honestly after seeing the aftermath of the operation.

Its impossible to save those hostages that are being kept in complex cave tunnels.

Even with stealth and sending just special forces would still not be enough to save them.

A lot of people are going to say prisoner swap. The Turkish armed forces does not negotiate with terrorists.

Really sad 3 soldiers got martyred while 13 were executed. I dont believe the operation is a failure. I would call it a partial success.

-cave complex got taken over and destroyed
-combined arms approach
-pkk suffered heavy casualties along with some high ranking terrorists getting vapourised

Failure is this

-hostages could not be saved
-3 Turkish soldiers martyred

Pkk is nothing more going to spin this and turn it into a propaganda victory but deep down they know they got pounded really hard when their so called mountain fortresses which they believed protected them for decades is now collapsing.

TSK basically in reach of Sinjar and Kandil and the pkk know their end is coming in Iraq.

Turkish armed forces learns from mistakes. We learn and adapt. You get your fair share of successes and failures this is normal.

Life has its highs and lows. I do remember the news of a single day where Turkish soldiers casualties were like 20 soldiers many sent inside trucks that were barely protected and exposed.

Tsk has come a long way.

Ruhlari Sad Olsun. Turkish mentality is always sacrificing for the good of the nation. Here is a German officer who served the Ottomans think of the Turkish soldier, Goltz Pasha often expressed admiration for the ordinary Turkish soldier, whom he regarded as immensely tough, brave and willing to suffer without complaint.

After the raid on the cave concluded with the elimination of all the terrorists it was found that 13 hostages were ruthlessly executed (12 shot in the head and 1 in the shoulder).
If it was up to me, i would bomb Süleymaniye and kill ten times more civilians in the city. Then say "we were targeting PKK in the city, sorry for the collateral damage".

This should've been one of the operations to be announced AFTER completion.
RIP to our fallen soldiers and civilians.

Firstly RIP to the fallen brothers.

If the objective of the operation was rescuing the hostages, this is a failed operation. 13 of 15(?) hostages martyred during the operation also gave 3 martyrs during the operation. Even you kill 1000 terrorists the objective of the operation is a failure.

Some people, whom i find reliable, tells there are rumors those: our soldiers were dangered for sake of an announcement to be made on wednesday, by president. As a result of this 3 martry was fallen for sake of catching a deadline, instead of going step by step, the announcement was to be made by president, but made by minister of defense.

It was already known PKK would kill the prisoners, they have kept these people particularly for negotiation to release terorrists from prisons, while they have been releasing dozen others silently through efforts of NGOs (government officers, teachers, workers), these people were critical for media appearance thus they would have been never released. I don't assume this part as a failure, it is nearly impossible to save them alive.

The failure is forcing maroon berrets advance faster than the schedule and with lack of intelligence and causing 3 high rank soldier to fall, which everyone can say they wouldn't have been martryed if they werent forced to advance.

Why are you suprised? He was defending çözüm süreci few years ago. He said Çözüm süreci was a democratic movement. I'm more concerned about his supporters rather than him. Some idiots still think he is against pkk. Those hostages was also captured during çözüm süreci (6 years ago). Why didnt we do anything when they forst captured citizens? I will tell you, Our prime minister was busy singing "megri megri" with şıvan perver. His wife also cried and said its a very emotional song. Prime minister also said he sent those PMs to imralı and if someone has a problem, they should talk to him directly. Every week there was a new letter from öcalan. And those letter was readen publicly. Every governtment PMs was complimenting to öcalan and talking about how öcalan is good guy.

Until when? Until Akp lost the election of 7 June 2015. Than few weeks later in Suruç/Şanlıurfa at 20 july 2015 there was an explosion, 34 citizens lost their lives if I remember correctly. Then Akp finished çözüm süreci immediatly, (What a coincidence). After 1 November 2015 elections, Akp win the election again.

İf Akp has won the 7 june election, Çözüm süreci was going to countinue. And süleyman soylu would still defend öcalan.
