Stand-Off Missile (SOM) is an air-to-surface Cruise Missile with turbojet engine designed to be used against heavily defended land and sea surface targets. SOM provides the capability of destroying designated military targets with high accuracy with the launching aircraft remaining outside the effective range of hostile air defence systems.

SOM-A and SOM-B1 have been in TurAf service since 2011. Work for developing other variants, SOM-B2 which has Dual Stage Tandem Penetrating Warhead and SOM-C1 & SOM-C2 which have ASuW and datalink capability, are ongoing.

SOM-A Missile

  • Missile Weight ~ 1350 lb.
  • It is the first variant of Stand of Missile Family
  • High explosive blast-fragmentation warhead
  • Global Positioning System, GPS
  • Inertial Navigation System, INS
  • Terrain Referenced Navigation, TRN
SOM-B1 Missile ,

It is designed against soft targets such as SOM-A and differently it has Infrared Imanging (IIR) seeker.

  • Missile Weight ~ 1350 lb.
  • High Explosive Blast-Fragmentation Warhead
  • Global Positioning System, GPS
  • Inertial Navigation System, INS
  • Terrain Referenced Navigation, TRN
  • Imaging Infrared, IIR Seeker
  • Automatic Target Acquisition, ATA
SOM-B2 Missile

SOM-B2 is designed against hard concrete targets. Differently from SOM-A and SOM-B1 it has Dual Stage Tandem Penetrating Warhead.

  • Missile Weight ~1450 lb.
  • Dual Stage Tandem Penetrating Warhead
  • Global Positioning System, GPS
  • Inertial Navigation System, INS
  • Terrain Referenced Navigation, TRN
  • Imaging Infrared, IIR Seeker
  • Automatic Target Acquisition, ATA
SOM-J Missile;

It is one of the variants of the SOM Missile System Family specially designed for F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) internal/external carriage and used against highly defended, anti-access and high value stationary and moving surface (ASuW) and land targets.

  • Missile Weight ~1000 lb.
  • Semi-Armor Piercing Warhead
  • Global Positioning System (GPS)
  • Inertial Navigation System (INS)
  • Terrain Referenced Navigation (TRN)
  • Imaging Infrared (IIR) Seeker
  • Automatic Target Acquisition (ATA)
  • Network Enabled Weapon (NEW) Capability
  • Universal Armament Interface (UAI) Compatibility
  • Off-Board, On-Board and In-Flight Mission Planning Capability

The test conducted in Sinop Missile Test Range (July 1 2020) validated ATMACAs fire and update capability via datalink(kement?) directing it to a new target while in flight. ATMACA engaged the new target at the terminal stage with its pop up and dive capability. 🎯💥

From article, this paragraph was exciting to see!
In 2019, the ATMACA Phase II Project was also expected to be launched. In this context, the ATMACA Block II missile which can be launched from the 533mm diameter torpedo tube of submarines through a special capsule (Encapsulated ATMACA Block II, just like the Encapsulated Harpoon), is expected to be fitted with a more advanced seeker (dual-mode RF+IIR type seeker). In this context, the studies on submarine-launched missile capability have been started, and TÜBİTAK SAGE, one of the companies and institutions working on this subject, explained the underwater cruise missile launch mechanism at the International Load Certification Tests Symposium held on November 4. TÜBİTAK SAGE will also produce a torpedo tube replica with a diameter of 533mm as part of the development process. In the last phase, a launch test is planned to be carried out from a 533mm torpedo tube on a submarine

How effective are glide bombs against radars and point defense systems? Is it more or less difficult to destroy them than ballistic and cruise missiles?

You can read here how KGK (Wing assisted guidance kit for MK-82 MK-83) was used against a BUK-M2 MR-SAM during OP Spring Shield.

Saturation strikes can be applied also against heavily defended targets with the relatively cheaper miniature bomb.

How do old gen anti-ship missiles without GPS intercept the target from 100km? Having dedected by stationary radar, how coordinates loading in missile?

Which GPS network the SOM uses?
or without satellite network Just one national satellite can assist the missile?

They usually use Inertial guidance to reach their targets, plus they use active radar homing to track targets based on their radar signature

The answer must be INS but you cant engage from 100km with little Radio seeker of missile. 500kg weighted mardX band radar barely dedects 100km moreover world is not flat.

Edit: what about creating smart sea mines like drones with high-tech sensors. You wouldnt just relay on navy reconnaissance aircrafts. Aircrafts easy to be dedected by enemy radars.
