National Guard vs Territorial defence Battalions?

I'm confused, what's the difference between Ukraine's national guard and the Territorial defense battalions and/or volunteer battalions?

I'm confused, what's the difference between Ukraine's national guard and the Territorial defense battalions and/or volunteer battalions?

The National guard was like the Gendarmerie in France and Jandarma in Türkiye.
Policing in peacetime,policing and combat duty in wartime.
Territorial defense battalions were volunteer military units,their only task was to fight the enemy.

so they are two very different things? with a very different and specifically defined role, are they both organized by the federal government?
