This information is "leaked" by T-rex, and off-the point as much as possible, merely based on what he reads here and there and how he interprets it (mainly this forum though).

TF-2000 goes through " contract design " stage, not " contract " stage. Anyone making a comment after reading this forum, particularly this thread and re-publishing it on twitter or back here on this thread first should know difference of two.

TF-2000 may get the steel cutting even within this year merely for a ceremony or the next year, and it doesn't matter. Contract design stage is expected to be completed by June 2024 with a possible foreseen 6 months delay, to be followed by Detail-Production design stage which is necessary for the construction (Construction may simultaneously go on for the sections which the detail design phase is completed, however).

And 2029 is not the expected commissioning but partial acceptance date, may as well end up being commencing sea trials if delays occur in the project (which it will occur). Add +3 years for such a ship to reach initial operational condition. And add+3 years as Navy foresees as a margin of error or unexpected delays.

Writing this as a person who so far has given the accurate information on several naval projects, including what goes on TF-2000 in details while none other insiders or experts in social media were mentioning of these.

The only credible people on social media are the ones who doesn't give exact dates out of their arses.

They will come in June to say " Tests of TF-2000 is completed". Man, been telling it since December here on this forum and they will not even tell it is towing tank scaled model experiments for resistance, self-propulsion, and sea-keeping and maneuvering (at this point they will not even know about the tests being conducted in cavitation tunnel, but hey how come a ship is tested in a cavitation tunnel right? What is the purpose there, it is for cavitation). They even refrain from giving a reference to this forum.

No further comments.

The only thing is really really going to BLOW my mind if I hear anything about 'unconventional propulsion'.

Other than that, everything excellent is pretty much expected from Turkish defence industry.

Is there any delay in TF-2000?

Been telling for months, there is nothing new in here.
It is in contract/functional design stage, ASFAT is the main contractor. Kuasar Marin is the design subcontractor.

ASFAT is the main contractor of TF2000, Kuasar Marin is likely the design - engineering services sub-major-contractor assigned by ASFAT.

And known since September; SSIK was not waited to settle this.
At this stage only one shipyard ,who is not oriented for profits, may bear the financial and time risks of building a prototype; Pendik Naval Shipyard (ITK), that leaves us with the question of who will be the primary contractor for design and prototype construction; STM or ASFAT? . STM was contractor of Ada and I Class, as well as TTHB but recent trends show that MoD - DzKK in favor of ASFAT as contractor (for example OPV). So, anyone who is making a comment has 50-50 chance :).

TF2000's model scale experiments have been commenced and being conducted at Istanbul Technical University, both in towing tank and newly introduced ITU-KAT cavitation tunnel.

"Official" decision for design activities was taken in SSIK but in reality design activities were in an advanced phase. More than half the detailed design activities have been completed. The Navy will build the vessel. Naval shipyards come under the name Asfat, the Navy will be the showrunner. The remaining design activities will be completed this year. After the I class leaves the navy shipyard, there will be some retooling, maintenance activities, and preparation for TF-2000. There might be a ceremonial steel cut in Q4 2023 and Q1 2024, and actual production will also start in 2024. I expect construction to take roughly 2 years, system installation 18 months, and testing 18 months. I expect the first TF-2000 to be delivered to TN before the end of 2029.
The main problem is the budget. It is expected to cost a lot and a new government might cut the funding to some extent even if the project is not canceled.

Money is found after the government asks for it. All in all, with just a few tons of gold, you can secure the future of the whole project.

In order to commence serial production, all components of TF-2000 should be ready logistic wise (documentation, integration, prices) and detail design shall be commenced and completed, so that steel cutting and welding details (as well as piping and cabling) is available. The bidders should clearly know these in order to; 1.Have logistic details, how to order etc, to plan the production, insert it into their facilities 2. Assess production cost in details, amount of steel to processed and coordination of subcontractors. This would be possible by 2027 once we can see TF2000 as whole, with a naked eye,unfinished but steel-construction wise as whole. The bidders should be assured that it is doable and solid details are present, since they will be guaranteeing to deliver a product as expected to customer; SSB.

In best case, serial production tender will commence and finalize in 2028, serial production will commence in 2029 for three ships with 6 months intervals and each will be completed and delivered in 5 years, assuming by 2032 the first hull will be commissioned and integration of systems will be achieved by %100 and the platform will reach IOC.

TF2000 is not a toy, it is an "Air defence destroyer" that will have a dedicated operation room for theater level coordination of all units, as well as ABM capabilities.

AFAIK that's what separates cruisers from destroyers in the traditional sense, so you could say Turkish Navy is being humble.
Isn't about weight difference?

So realistacly speaking Gabya's will be 50 years old at best when the serial production is begun.

We should really build another type as well. Be it Dearsan's F142, Istif XL or TF2000 lite but we really need to have additional class of frigates to supplement our fleet.

Not anymore. Tico's and Burke's weight around the same now and US Navy make the distiction that way.(between cruisers and destroyers)

Nowadays weight doesn't really mean anything regarding classification. It is about the role and the facilities/weapons or countries tradition.(same ship may have different classification on different navies)
