Navy wards off Indian submarine from entering Pakistani waters: ISPR

The Pakistan Navy detected and blocked an Indian submarine from entering Pakistani waters on October 16 (last Saturday), the military's media wing revealed on Tuesday.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the navy showed "unremitting vigilance and professional competence" in ascertaining and blocking the attempted entry of the Indian vessel.
"During the prevailing security milieu, a strict monitoring watch has been kept by Pakistan Navy to safeguard maritime frontiers of Pakistan," the ISPR said.
It added that the Oct 16 incident was the third time an Indian naval submarine had been detected and tracked by the Pakistan Navy's long-range maritime patrol aircraft.
"The recent incident reflects the deplorable Indian machinations vis-à-vis commitment and resolve of Pakistan Navy to defend maritime frontiers of the motherland," the statement reads.

The last such reported incident occurred in March 2019 when the navy had detected and thwarted a similar attempted entry by an Indian submarine. "The Pakistan Navy used its specialised skills to ward off the submarine, successfully keeping it from entering Pakistani waters," a statement from the navy's spokesperson had said at the time.
Another attempt was made in November 2016 when an Indian submarine was tracked and pushed clear out of Pakistan's waters.
The UN Convention on Law of Sea does not allow a state to carry out manoeuvres or exercises in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and in the continental shelf of another coastal state without its consent. EEZ signifies an area of coastal water and seabed within a certain distance of a country's coastline that cannot be entered without permission or prior information.
The area of Pakistan's territorial waters is 12 nautical miles while its seabed territory (EEZ) grew to 290,000 square kilometres in 2015.

Where was it spotted ?

I don't think a Submarine would be on the surface when it decides to enter someones territory :)

As I recall the naval vessel would follow the Submarine to the location where it would resurface and tell them to go away.

Maybe int'l waters near Pakistani territory.

It would be stupid to snorkel while in within Pakistan waters.

I don't think that is actual image but just a generic image. These 'feelers' by Indian Navy are entirely to be expected. Sort of testing the PN. Fact is Indian Navy is vastly larger then PN which by comparison is like a coastguard.

But that is okay because navies will never decided any Pak/India tangle. The only scenario when this would become a decisive factor is if India blocked off all the sealanes to Pakistan which it could easily do given IA superiorty. However for that to effect it would require weeks if not months to bite Pakistan in a catastrophic way.

If things did go that far I suspect the nuclear deterant would kick in. I believe Pakistan has red lines which India is aware when the nuclear threshold would be hit.

It is worth mentioning here the nukes are mostly a defensive weapon and suit the smaller party to the confict as the equalize the field.

Well it's difficult to find out if it's true or not or whether there are hidden hints and such.

But I don't imagine than any of the sides are going to do more than this. It's natural for this kind of relations to test the waters and such from time to time.

But all pakistani accounts were claiming this to be actual footage

I guess no one from your end realized it'd sound dumb to call it "detection" when the sub is openly lurking on the surface

Some talk of the submarine 'allowing' itself to be seen, which sounds outlandish to say the least ,and also defeats the purpose of a submarine, a weapon of stealth.
