On Friday afternoon, a Reaper drone flying over the Malian Gourma carried out a surveillance mission of a suspicious gathering near In Tillit (90 km south of Gao). The informations obtained led to the conclusion of the presence of an armed terrorist group.

A strike by the drone is ordered.

Given the size of the gathering, a group of mountain commandos embarked on an NH90 and supported by two Tiger attack helicopters were dispatched to the area. Identifying the terrorists still hidden there, a Tiger begins the engagement and the commandos are dropped on the ground to engage the remaining terrorist elements.

This coordinated operation allowed to neutralize many terrorists (figure isn't given) the destruction of their equipments,means of communication and more than twenty motorcycles. No losses were reported on French side.

There's currently the French-led "Takuba Task Force" being set up which is a task force of European special forces which will advise,assist and accompany Malian armed forces in coordination with the G5 Sahel.

So far only Estonia (60) the Czech Republic (60) Sweden (up to 250) and Italy (200) have announced the deployment of special forces.

Belgium will deploy 150-300 regular troops alongside the French Barkhane force in 2021.....

Germany won't send any combat troops,we don't expect anything from them anyways.

A Toyota Hilux was struck 140 km north of Ménaka during the night by the Barkhane force,the vehicle was destroyed and all the passengers were killed.

It is rumoured Ba Ag Moussa was in the vehicle. Deserter of the Malian army to join terrorist groups,he's a chief of JNIM,responsible personally of several ambushes and attacks against Malian soldiers,resulting in the death of +50 soldiers.

A WhatsApp audio of condolences, prayers against France and announcing the death of Ba Mossa in this strike is circulating.

PARIS (AP) — French ground forces and military helicopters killed a jihadi commander linked with al-Qaida in Mali along with four others, the French military said Friday.

The Barkhane force has neutralized several dozens of terrorists yesterday near the village of Niaki,180km east of Mopti in Mali.

A large gathering of armed terrorist elements was spotted near the village. 4 Mirage 2000D took off from Niamey (Niger). At the same time 4 Tiger and 3 NH90 helicopters with mountain commandos onboard were sent to the area.

The Mirages 2000D struck the terrorist positions while the mountain commandos carried out their infultration,they proceeded to control the area and neutralize the remaining terrorist elements.

The operation ended with the neutralization of several dozens of armed terrorist elements,around 20 motorcycles were seized as well as large quantities of armaments and ammos. No losses were reported on French side.

The French army doesn't release publicly videos of neutralization of terrorists for "ethical" reasons. Even during press briefings,the armed forces do not use the term "killed",but "neutralized".

My bad, my handlers also use the term neutralized too for terrorists. On releasing videos, many do, even US releases with the #defeatdeash hashtag printed on the videos in Iraq. I remember French releasing drone footage very recently too but can't seem to find it. But here is a old video released by the "ethical" French army.

Several strikes of the Barkhane force have been reported from the 17 to the 20 november in the Boulikessi area of Mali against armed terrorist groups resulting in the neutralization of an undisclosed number of terrorists.

Tracts have been dropped in the region by the Barkhane force..... "Barkhane sees you,even if you hide".... Forest doesn't protect from drones....

Al Qaeda has claimed responsibility for coordinated rocket attacks against three French army bases of Kidal,Gao and Ménaka today in Mali.

The camps were hit by indirect fire,no material damage or losses were reported. The only damage was to a UN base in Kidal, which is just next to the French base.

If the shots were imprecise because they were carried out from far away,their objective was probably to send a message to the Barkhane force because of the serious setbacks infliced on jihadist groups in the recent weeks,such as the neutralization of +100 fighters as well as the death of Ba Ag Moussa,the military leader of JNIM to which AQ is linked.

When I meant releasing videos about neutralization of terrorists I meant videos where you can clearly distinguish them. You'll never see the French MoD releasing graphic videos similar to that of the Azeris recently or of Turkey in Syria where you can clearly see humans being killed.

You'll find very few of them in fact some have been leaked by the press and not directly released by the MoD. (Video is from 2013.)

Btw what it is continuous surveilance equipment you guys employed during Barkhane operation? Do you guys relied more on such tools or more lean toward HUMINT assets on the field?

It is interesting to see you guys can identified such gathering and then Raid them without giving much colateral damage toward the surrounding areas, this the aspect worthy to be learned from established modern military organization.
