According to information published by the malaysiaflyingherald blog on October 26, 2020, that Malaysian peacekeeping contingent deployed in Lebanon as a member of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has requested a new 4x4 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) to replace the old 4x4 Condor APC.

The Condor 4x4 APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) vehicles are deployed in Lebanon since 2006 with the first peacekeeping contingent of the Malaysian army.
The Condor is a 4×4 wheeled armored personnel carrier originally designed by Thyssen-Henschel of Germany and manufactured by Henschel Wehrtechnik GmbH. The first prototype was completed in 1978. According to the Military Balance 2020, the Malaysian army has a total of 300 Condor in different variants.
According to the malaysiaflyingherald, on of the candidate to replace the Condor APC is the Kaya II 4×4 MRAP vehicle developed and manufactured by the Turkish company Otokar.
The Kaya II is a wheeled armored in the category of MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected). The vehicle is designed based on an Daimler Chrysler U5000 (4 x 4) UNIMOG chassis offering a high level of cross-country mobility and for which spare parts are available worldwide through a well-established dealer network.
Otokar Kaya has two compartments, one for the driver and commander behind the engine compartment and the second for the troop compartment, which is located at the rear with the lower part in a V-shape for a higher level of protection against anti-tank mines.
The Kay II can accommodate ten troops seated on individual seats five down either side facing inwards with the seats being attached to the sides of the vehicle and not on the floor.
A variety of weapon stations can be integrated to Kaya MPV such as open cupola and Remote Controlled Weapon Station armed with 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm machine gun or 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
The Kaya MRAP is motorized with a 4-cylinder diesel engine developing 218 hp at 4,000 rpm. It can run at a maximum road speed of 96 km/h with a maximum range of 800 km.
