Doesn't this seem like an act of revenge for losing those fighter jets?

I mean you conduct an operation and hit 9 targets, you kinda screw up and lose face on international level by losing 3-5 jets. So you decide to use Harops to take out Chinese AD systems as revenge...

This engagement will be remembered in the annals of military history as the first clash where in an aerial combat both sides engaged each other without having a real dogfight within visual range.
A similar beyond vision battle was fought between American and Japanese CVs at Midway 83 years ago first time in history which neither side’s fleet elements exchanged gun salvos.

Along with these we have reports of three crashes by The Hindu, Reuters, citing local government officials.

Would it be safe to say currently Pakistan claims 5 - 6 (depending on whether a heron is included) shootdowns (whether by IAD or CAP).

....and we have at least 3 - 4 objective wreckage sites on Indian side....with one very likely a Rafale.

The rest we will have to wait for more details and analysis.

Like Pakistan claims 3 rafales were shot down rather than just 1 that we have objective evidence so far.

There is a seeker from PL-15 also objectively seen in Hoshiarpur area iirc, but at this point its unproven if it was involved in a shootdown.

A lot of this needs the conflict window to die down, more info releases to come through and time for objective analysis to play out etc.
