Under a two-stage program, Poland plans to first acquire 180 K2 tanks with the deliveries set to begin this year, according to the ministry. In the second acquisition phase, the country will acquire 800 K2 tanks with a view to start producing the tanks locally in 2026.

Poland also plans to buy 48 FA-50 light attack fighters, with the first batch of 12 jets to be delivered in the middle of next year.

K2- first batch will be from Korea, from 2026 it should be produced both in Korea and Poland and that 180 Korean K2 should be upgraded to K2PL standard
FA-50 first 12 should be in block 10 version, other 36 should be modernized to block 20.

I just checked about this contract. As I mentioned before in the forum, K2PL cannot be supplied to Poland until 2025. K2PL has not even completed the prototype yet.

The 180 K2s, scheduled to be supplied to the Polish military from 2022, will be produced in Changwon, South Korea, where the Hyundai Rotem tank plant is located, and will be quickly supplied to Poland, and a prototype of the K2PL will be seen in 2025 or 2026, when the K2 PIP's improvement project ends.

The contract signed by the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) and Hyundai Rotem is a Framework agreement. In this agreement, there were two terms of contract required by the Polish Ministry of Defence.

First, South Korea should quickly supply weapons to the Polish military within this year.

Second, Hyundai Rotem should transfer technology related to tank production to PGZ.

And the Korean government approved the terms of these two agreements. If K2PL is produced in Poland as scheduled, the unit price of K2 and K2PL will not be much different.

The one problem general public in Poland has is with FA 50. Why did we buy it?
That block 10 in not really a fighter plane, is there even a chance for block 20 near 2025-2026? Or we are buying it just for the hope of entering future Korea fighter programs?

What about power pack? Which engine and transmission will be used? Korean ones?

K2PL maintains most of the functions applied to K2 such as 120 mm 55-caliber tank gun, Autoloader and In-arm Suspension Unit (ISU). However, the K2PL will have a new armor package with a higher ballistic protection level than the K2 and a hard-kill APS. I expect that K2PL will be produced with ultra-high hardness armor steel developed by ADD in 2021.

And Hyundai Rotem is currently planning to produce more than 980 tanks for Poland and 183 K2 tanks for the Korean military. If the fourth production of K2 for the Korean military is decided, a total of 1,163 tanks will be produced from 2022 to 2029 or 2030.

So far, there has been a lot of debate about upgrading the FA-50 to Block 20.

But due to Poland's massive purchase of Korean weapons, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has decided to produce the FA-50 Block 20, and the FA-50 to be supplied to Poland from this year is Block 10, and the T-50 ordered by the Korean Air Force will be upgraded to the FA-50 Block 10 to supply to the Polish Air Force. KAI said it will supply FA-50PL (Block 20) to the Polish Air Force in 2026 due to the framework agreement with Poland.

I'm really curious about this, but I don't have any information at the moment. If the durability certification of Korean transmission (EST15K) is completed, there is a possibility that Korean power packs will be supplied to K2PL However, if the durability verification of the Korean transmission is not completed, the K2PL will use a German power pack or a hybrid power pack (Korean engine + German transmission). I hope Turkiye will test Korean power packs with Altay soon.

Poland inks deal for FA-50 light attack aircraft from South Korea​

The first of the agreements is concerning 12 FA-50 Block 10 aircraft in current configuration used by the Republic of Korea Air Force, and the second one - 36 FA-50PL aircraft in new configuration, close to the future FA-50 Block 20, featuring an AESA radar, aerial refueling capability as well as broadened weapon set. The first FA-50s will be armed with guns as well as AIM-9 Sidewinder and AGM-65 Maverick missiles and several types of bombs, while the FA-50PLs will also carry more capable guided weapon systems.
The first FA-50s are to be delivered in 2nd half of 2023, while the 36 FA-50PLs - between 2025 and 2028. The contract net values are USD 700 million and USD 2.3 billion, respectively, so the total value is USD 3 billion. Both contracts include training, spares and logistics support, though the weapons will have to be procured separately. A separate agreement shall also cover technology transfer to the Polish Armament Group (PGZ), which should in turn receive maintenance capabilities for FA-50/FA-50PL aircraft. Various options for long term cooperation in the aerospace industry between Poland and ROK are also being considered, particularly as Poland will be the first user of FA-50 in NATO and EU.

I was wondering the same thing.Maybe there will be partial transfer of technology,who knows.Or as you said to take part in future project just like they plan to take part in ROK's K3 future tank.
Seems like Poland really had enough of the Germans and their weapons sold with a bunch of strings attached to it.
