SJ stands for Sitara-e-Jurat (Star of Bravery). It's western equivalent is the MC or Military Cross.

I hope to be able to download the text and read about him a little later in the day. Thank you for the forward.

I have great details of the performance of both regiments in the war
I wish you would open a thread, when you have the leisure (if you have the leisure). In continuation of your magisterial analysis of the term 'bhakt' elsewhere, I might remind ourselves that the personal connection to both regiments are Niazi gentlemen; of one I am sure, from his name itself.

I will try to make a compendium of their performance in the 1965 war. My next project are couple of researches on Law, one on history which i might share its draft here and preparation of a seminar on Law of FIR next week. I will try to complete the compendium after the seminar maybe the week after next one

I can assure you, Sir, sight unseen, whatever comes out after a slight delay, perhaps, will be very well-written, very well researched, and founded on excellent source materials. It is not possible to explain further without invading his privacy, but he is to be envied, as holding three copies of a history that had been banned, and whose copies had all been mopped up by the Army.

Let us wait for it; it will be worthwhile.

RIP to your uncle. Sad to hear. Will be keeping tabs on what saiyan gives us on these regiments later.

Also just saw you are related to "rescueranger" (whom I also remember quite fondly), good stuff.
