I think the SU deal or Varank opening his mouth is more a FM message rather than anything else. Who knows, our so called allies are not relenting on sanctions while other allies in different regions etc. are treated more favorable despite buying Russian hardware.

Oh well, it's a game like we all know so let's get as much necessary TOT and cooperation as possible.

Exactly my thoughts.

If possible, our Turkish brothers should seek both Ukrainian and Russian assistance for two distinct projects both related to space launch vehicles. The South Koreans benefited by collaborating with the Russians on their medium range SAM programme and on their Naro satellite launch vehicle system.

Extract as much benefit as you can, while you can. Use the Russians as a bargaining chip against the West, too. Of course, based on experience and history, be careful never to trust Russians. Putin was a KGB agent in the past. The leadership and decision makers in Turkey should know very well what to expect from them.

Best thing Turkey to do now.. is to open a replacement tender! Just announce a tender to replace F4s and F35 deal.. Let Eurofighter, Rafale, Su35, Su57, F16, F18 or even F15 to join ) and watch them.. A tender for 48 jets with option for 48 more

US expert: If TSK buys Su-57, it will be a nightmare for NATO​

US expert Peter Suciu stated that adding Russian-made fifth-generation Su-57 fighters to the Turkish army's inventory would mean a nightmare for NATO.​

No Su-35 and no Su-57. If the west creates problems with the engines then we could see a partnership for the engines of the TF-X but nothing else. Even if the US sells Greece the F-35 they won’t see any until the end of the decade, said so by the ambassador to Greece himself, coupled with the possibility of the USAF cutting their orders to reinvest into the their actual flagship, the NGAD, and the price hike following it the chances of Greece getting any F-35 this decade is very unlikely and them getting/being able to afford any F-35 is on shaky legs too with the latest developments.

And in the 30s TF-X (Block 2-3) should have already entered service nullifying any advantage the Greeks would gain with the F-35 and turning it into an actual disadvantage that will draw away money from more immediate needs the Armed Forces of Greece would have.

I would rather see us procure armed Hürjets and continue our work on the TF-X.

Seriously this knocks some sense into Turkish F35 fanboys. Who believe the world is going to end if we dont get the F35.

They are even shitting on the TAI TFX program as if they want it to fail.

F35 is no doubt a potent machine lets not forget the machine has its flaws and problems that are being solved. I dont like how people treat it like some God machine of the military.

Unlike the past 200 or so years we can counter a possible Russian aggression with our own means, or we can hope to get there in a decade. On the other hand we are increasingly facing conflict of interest from our NATO allies in our backyard. Russia is instrumental in our efforts to fend off excessive western presence in our region by answering to our needs to decrease our reliance on western weapons. They simply help us buy more time for us to become self sufficient in defense matters.

For matters of economy we heat our houses with gas bought from Russia and fill our hotels with Russian tourists that makes us money. We have a bigger volume of trade with Russia than we do with the US and France. Unlike the past if people want to enjoy life they can do so by simply being tourists in a country when you can conflict with them in other matters. Russia is good when you can keep it in check.

While any larger power like the US can be troubling to have around as they get roguer by the day pursuing zionist agenda.

Today the most important factors in warfare are networking and sensor fusion. Russia is very lagging in these matters. Plus Su-35/57 wont be compatible with Turkish F-16 and AEW&C.

Just modernize all F-16 with new avionics and aesa radar and we are good to go, no need to waste anything on Russian aircrafts when we have our own fighter project ongoing.

Russian jets are formidable not to be underestimated.

As you said a lot of times they do indeed lag behind their western counterparts a lot in technology.

Russian jets also consume lots of fuel.
