Moscow notes that the deployment of these systems in Ukraine will bring the situation to a deadlock from which it will be difficult to find a way out.

Russia calls on the United States not to do anything stupid and not to send THAAD missile defense systems to Ukraine as Gazeta.ru reported citing Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin.

"We call on our American colleagues with whom we are in dialogue at various levels, including the highest level, not to do anything stupid and behave prudently and not to use the situation to drive it further and further into a deadlock from which it will be difficult to find a way out," the deputy minister said.

He said that Moscow would continue to use diplomatic ways of solving the problem.

The mass media noted that Kyiv had asked the USA to deploy several divisions of the American THAAD anti-missile systems near Kharkiv.

Ukraine did not comment on this situation.

Recently, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has announced plans to increase military aid to Ukraine.

On February 3, the seventh cargo aircraft arrived in Kyiv from the US, carrying military assistance for the Ukrainian army.

Moreover, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated that the United States will provide an additional 200 million dollars as security assistance to Ukraine. It is noted that the amount allocated by the United States for the security of Ukraine is greater than in any year since 2014. In addition, according to Kuleba, these 200 million dollars were not envisaged, but are a kind of rapid defense assistance from the United States.

a deployment of THAAD would meant that those tools would have to come also with US operators as Ukrainians don't know how to use them.
