A new image showing Taiwan’s LST-542 class tank landing ship, LCC-1, with a Sea Oryx short-range air defense system mounted on the stern of the ship has appeared online.

The former USS Dukes County is being used by Taiwan to carry out indigenous radar and missile testing. A large phased array radar system can be seen mounted on the deck of the ship.

The Sea Oryx is Taiwan’s equivalent of the American RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile system and uses the Sky Sword I short range infrared guided air-to-air missile.

Sea Oryx should be perfect as close in defensive weapons on top of all Taiwan current surface combatants.

Escpecially the Kang Ding FFG, which currently lacks proper short range AD systems. Replace the Phalanx CIWS aft

or replace the Sea Chapral forward B position.

Absolutely great alternative of RAM .
AFAIK the missile has İmagine IR seeker while RAM has just IR seeker so it doesn't need MMW radar . since it doesn't have MMW seeker , the missile doesn't have to roll like RAM.

I guess Turkish variant of RAM will be identical to Sea Oryx.

I'm looking forward to seeing Turkish Sea Oryx on all our frigates, corvettes, FACs as well as on YTKBs.
