A veteran officer in the AMN, who has been recruited since the outbreak of the war, says against the background of the latest intelligence revelations that there is a serious concern that the IDF was exposed to deep counter-espionage by Hamas before the war. According to him, "the investigative committee will have to ask where they had so much inside information about what was going on in the IDF's most secret bases."
The officer's words are said against the background of the exposure of two Israeli Arabs from the north, who tried to help Hamas , and also after the discovery of the Hamas server farm, under UNRA's central headquarters in Gaza last week.
The veteran officer told "Israel Today" that "the terrorists of the Nohba had information about highly sensitive IDF sites, which were kept secret even within the army. He explained that this means "a double intelligence failure by the Shin Bet, which is responsible for both areas." The Shin Bet was supposed to gather information about Hamas plans and it is known that it failed to do so. But the Shin Bet is also responsible for preventing counter-espionage, which means not allowing the enemy to gather information from inside Israel. We now know that Hamas knew a lot about us, on a level that goes beyond gathering information from drones and observations. That is, there is reason to seriously suspect that there was widespread counter-espionage, which we still don't know how it was done. There may have been a power that helped Hamas. This is an issue that should not be glossed over and will have to be investigated after the war."
