TAIPEI, March 3 (Reuters) - Taiwan plans to more than double its yearly missile production capacity to close to 500 this year, the island's defence ministry said in a report, as it boosts its combat power amid what it sees as China's growing military threat.

Taiwan last year approved extra military spending of T$240 billion ($8.6 billion) over the next five years as tensions with China, which claims the island as its own territory, have hit a new high and Chinese military planes have repeatedly flown through Taiwan's air defence identification zone.

Good News!

Given that the Brave Wind.3. and the Sky Bow.3. have been in production for over 10 years, stocks on hand should be about 2000 of each type. Now growing by that 500 per year and far quicker, cheaper, and easier than building a new CV or DDG.

The very fact that these missiles exist should keep our peace loving emporer in China awake at night. Both missiles are very good, and better than the Harpoon and the various American SAMs on offer.

No invasion fleet can guarantee to anyone to remain intact for that dangerous voyage across the 150 kms of the Taiwan Strait. The survivors of that voyage wil be a fragmented rump of the whole that will have little or nil hope of re-supply.

Gen Eisenhower landed 150,000 troops on day one, and another 150,000 troops the next day, and his invasion fleet had 100% control of both the sea and the air.
