TEXTRON SYSTEMS AWARDED UNCREWED AIRCRAFT SYSTEM (UAS) CONTRACTOR-OWNED/CONTRACTOR-OPERATED CONTRACT FOR THREE LITTORAL COMBAT SHIPS (LCS) BY U.S. NAVY​


Hunt Valley, Maryland, AUGUST 9, 2023 – Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today that it has been awarded an initial contract valued at up to $19.5 million by the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to provide UAS operational support to two Independence Class LCS and one Freedom Class LCS variants. This award joins the Expeditionary Sea Base (ESB)-4 and ESB-5, as well as two DDG- class ships, bringing the total number of U.S. Navy ships supported by the Aerosonde® UAS system to seven.


Textron Systems will deploy its Aerosonde UAS to provide mission overwatch and extended intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) services with enhanced mission payloads as seen aboard the ESB-5.

BELL BEGINS HSVTOL RISK REDUCTION TESTING AT HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE


HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. ( 13 September, 2023) Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, today announced the delivery of a High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) test article to Holloman Air Force Base for demonstration and technology evaluation. The team will leverage the Arnold Engineering Development Complex Holloman High Speed Test Track to test the folding rotor, integrated propulsion and flight control technologies at representative flight speeds.


“The HSVTOL test article delivery and start of sled testing operations serves as a major milestone in our mission to develop the next generation of high-speed vertical lift aircraft,” said Jason Hurst, executive vice president, Engineering, Bell. “Bell plans to showcase HSVTOL technology informed by more than 85 years of high-speed rotorcraft development and leverage lessons learned to produce a flying prototype with game-changing capabilities.”


The objective of Bell’s sled test operations is to validate key technologies through a full-scale, integrated demonstration in a representative operating environment. Bell plans for the test article to execute a series of HSVTOL high-speed transition maneuvers, a first of its kind capability for vertical lift aircraft. Prior to delivery at Holloman Air Force Base, Bell successfully completed functional demonstrations at Bell’s Flight Research Center.


Bell’s High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) technology blends the hover capability of a helicopter with the speed (400+ kts), range, and survivability of jet aircraft. Bell has developed high-speed vertical lift technology for more than 85 years, pioneering innovative VTOL configurations like the X-14, X-22, XV-3 and XV-15 for NASA, the U.S Army and U.S. Air Force, and continues to build on its proven history of fast flight from the Bell X-1.

TEXTRON SYSTEMS, HOWE & HOWE AND TELEDYNE FLIR DEFENSE SELECTED FOR NEXT PHASE OF U.S. ARMY ROBOTIC COMBAT VEHICLE (RCV) PROGRAM​


Hunt Valley, Md., OCTOBER 2, 2023 – Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today that Team RIPSAW – Textron Systems, Howe & Howe and Teledyne FLIR Defense has been down selected to participate in the U.S. Army’s Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) Phase I: Platform Prototype program, an anticipated Army Program of Record (PoR). Team RIPSAW submitted a response to this competitive prototype project solicitation, which was released to members of the National Advanced Mobility Consortium (NAMC).


Under Phase 1, the company will deliver two RIPSAW® M3 prototype vehicles in 2024. Upon delivery, the U.S. Army will begin comprehensive testing against published system requirements related to mobility, sensor performance, remote vehicle control and overall systems reliability. In parallel to building and delivering vehicles, Team RIPSAW will complete the preliminary design for the M3 variant.


The RIPSAW M3 is a rugged and reliable RCV platform, leveraging Textron Systems’ nearly four decades of cross-domain uncrewed product design, integration, manufacturing, and fielding experience., Designed to meet stated Army requirements while keeping a focus on transportability and mission versatility, the vehicle is ready to meet the challenges of an everchanging battlefield. It features an open architecture design and common chassis which supports a wide variety of field exchangeable payloads from a basic flat-top deck configuration.


Team RIPSAW has invested in this family of robotic vehicles since 2019 when the RIPSAW M5 system first debuted. Later variants, including the M5-E (electric) and M3 Tech Demonstrator, leveraged the team’s collaboration with industry partners, academia and the U.S. Army to perform multiple mission sets in various environmental and test conditions. Since 2019, the RIPSAW family of vehicles have amassed over 2,000 miles of durability testing.

BELL RECEIVES T901 IMPROVED TURBINE ENGINE FOR BELL 360 INVICTUS


Fort Worth, TX (Oct. 23, 2023) – Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today the Army has officially delivered GE Aerospace’s T901 Improved Turbine Engine to Bell for its submission for the U.S. Army’s Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) program. With the engine’s arrival, Bell is prepared to complete the build for the Bell 360 Invictus competitive prototype and move forward to the next stages of the FARA competition.

“The ITEP delivery is a major milestone for FARA and the Bell 360 Invictus competitive prototype,” said Jayme Gonzalez, program manager, FARA. “Now that we have received the engine, we are ready to begin working toward ground runs and other necessary preparations before first flight later next year.”

Bell and Team Invictus have been focused on preparing our FARA support infrastructure, supply chain and manufacturing hub to ensure alignment as we move forward on the path toward first flight. With the T901 now in hand, the Bell team is prepared to instrument and install the engine and functionally prepare the aircraft for ground test operations.


Once the aircraft has been functionally tested with the T901 installed, the next steps for the Bell 360 include completing the Test Readiness Review and a restrained ground run. These tests are key to enabling the safe, rapid, and efficient execution of the flight test program.

U.S. ARMY AWARDS TEXTRON AVIATION CONTRACT FOR THREE BEECHCRAFT KING AIR TURBOPROPS


- Award is part of $100 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract for special missions Cessna SkyCouriers, Cessna Caravans and Beechcraft King Air turboprops


WICHITA, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Textron Aviation today announced it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, AL, for Cessna SkyCourier, Cessna Grand Caravan EX, Beechcraft King Air 360 and Beechcraft King Air 260 turboprop aircraft in support of Foreign Military Sales (FMS). The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract allows up to $100 million U.S. dollars for the acquisition of Textron Aviation aircraft over a five-year period.


The Cessna SkyCourier, Cessna Grand Caravan EX and Beechcraft King Air are designed and manufactured by Textron Aviation Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company.


The initial award is for three King Air 360 Extended Range (KA360ER) aircraft, of which two are destined for the Peruvian Naval Aviation Force (Fuerza de Aviación Naval) and one for the Ecuadorian Naval Aviation (Aviación Naval Ecuatoriana).

It will provide highly capable commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) aircraft that can be equipped with COTS releasable technology, and it will accelerate acquisition and contracting timelines from many months or years to weeks,” said Bob Gibbs, vice president, Special Mission Sales for Textron Aviation. “We are honored the U.S. Army created this multiyear IDIQ contract with Textron Aviation, which provides the ability to rapidly procure COTS aircraft and modification for FMS allies and partner nations.”


All three of the initial King Air turboprops awarded will perform maritime patrol to enforce the sovereignty of Peru and Ecuador over their respective Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ).

ROYAL JORDANIAN AIR FORCE TAKES DELIVERY OF FIRST BELL 505S​


Dubai, UAE (Nov. 16, 2023) Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced the delivery of the first five of 10 Bell 505 helicopters to the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF). The purchase agreement, signed on July 6, 2022, includes aircraft delivery complete with a flight training device and a comprehensive computer-based training package to support basic and advanced rotorcraft flight training at the King Hussein Air College in Mafraq, Jordan.

Horizon International Flight Academy in the UAE operates 12 Bell 505s, and the Kingdom of Bahrain recently took delivery of three Bell 505 aircraft in early 2023. More than 30 Bell 505 helicopters operate throughout the Middle East and Africa. Additionally, the Bell 505 is the military training helicopter for the Montenegro Air Force, Republic of Korea Army and Republic of Korea Navy.


The Bell 505 is a five-seat aircraft designed for reliability and efficiency while using the most advanced technology to date. The platform uses a fully integrated Garmin G1000H NXi avionics suite and Safran Arrius 2R engine with a dual-channel FADEC.

BELL ANNOUNCES DELIVERY OF ITS THIRD HEMS BELL 429 TO AIR ZERMATT


Madrid, Spain (November 28, 2023) Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced at European Rotors 2023, the delivery of its third Bell 429 to Swiss-based helicopter rescue company, Air Zermatt.

With its 75-person medical personnel and flight crew, Air Zermatt provides transport, tourist flights, and rescue operations in the Swiss Alps and surrounding communities. Each year, Air Zermatt carries out around 2,000 rescue missions, the majority of which are with the Bell 429.

(NYSE:TXT) company, announced today that it has been awarded a Purchase Order by Lockheed Martin to support Norway Italy Reprogramming Lab (NIRL) Block IV upgrades to support testing of the F-35 Lightning II aircraft capabilities with the A2PATS® systems. The A2PATS, Advanced Architecture Phase Amplitude and Time Simulator, system was delivered to Eglin Air Force Base in 2019. Valued at approximately $50M, this award supports upgrades to existing NIRL lab equipment including an enhanced frequency range capability and additional interfaces to support simulation and test of Block IV capabilities on the aircraft.


The A2PATS system is an advanced electromagnetic environment simulator incorporating electronic warfare (EW), communications and electronic intelligence capabilities providing performance and flexibility in verifying EW systems. Because of the modular design, customers are able to customize both install and level of support from A2PATS.

The Bell 429 can be fitted with a hoist, search light and rope kit, along with mission console, HD camera and video downlink. The law enforcement configuration can accommodate up to six passengers plus two crew in its 204sqft (5.78m3) cabin, which has easily removable seats for different arrangements and cargo carrying. The cargo hook has a capacity of 3,000lbs or 1,361kg.

THE NEXT CHAPTER FOR BELL’S H-1 HELICOPTERS BEGINS​


AMARILLO, Texas (March. 28, 2024) – The first Bell AH-1Z set to receive the Structural Improvement Electrical Power Upgrade (SIEPU) modification to be provided by Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc (NYSE:TXT) company, under a contract with the U.S. Marine Corps, has arrived at Bell’s Amarillo Assembly Center. SIEPU modifications optimize the aircraft to improve mission capabilities, aircrew safety, and interoperability by increasing the electrical power capacity on the aircraft and support the integration of additional cabin capabilities. SIEPU marks the start of the next chapter in the life of domestic H-1 helicopters, following the completion of the U.S. Marine Corps Program of Record in November 2022.


“The Bell AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom provide the backbone of attack and utility aviation support in the various battlespaces in which they are used, so SIEPU comes at an important time for the future strategic implementation of this platform,” said Mike Deslatte, Bell H-1 senior vice president and program director. “SIEPU will be immediately beneficial for today’s operations, and also sets the H-1 up to quickly support future operational needs, some that may not even be conceived of yet.


With SIEPU, H-1s will be able to upgrade to current weapons systems with next generation capabilities, including kinetic long-range munitions and air launched effects as well as new non-kinetic capabilities. These upgrades greatly extend reach and range while simultaneously enhancing standoff distance.


While the H-1s have already demonstrated their capability to counter enemy unmanned aerial systems, SIEPU will also allow for there to be enough on-board power capacity for future weapons that are yet to be implemented.


“We are confident that SIEPU will help the Marine Corps expand mission essential tasks with more mission flexibility,” said Danielle Markham, SIEPU program manager. “The important thing is to make sure the H-1 is in a position to take advantage of those opportunities as they become available.


Prior to arriving at the Bell Amarillo Assembly Center, the AH-1Z and UH-1Y completed datalink capabilities testing with the Marine Corps modifications at Camp Pendleton and testing with VMX-1 in Yuma. Bell plans to continue supporting the AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom through the 2040s in alignment with the Marine Corps Aviation Plan.
