So my posts regarding the building of Mariupol are deleted and I'm not allowed to post them in the Russia-Ukraine war thread.

I think what a great idea to create a separate thread about the rebuilding of Mariupol, which I couldn't find in almost (if not) ALL Western media but I do see a lot in niche channel.

Background

The siege of Mariupol began on 24 February 2022 and lasted until 20 May, as part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It saw fighting between the Russian Armed Forces (alongside the Donetsk People's Republic People's Militia) and the Ukrainian Armed Forces for control over the city of Mariupol in southeastern Ukraine. Lasting for almost three months, the siege ended in a victory for Russia and the Donetsk People's Republic, as Ukraine lost control of the city amidst Russia's eastern Ukraine offensive and southern Ukraine offensive; all Ukrainian troops remaining in the city surrendered at the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works on 20 May 2022, after they were ordered to cease fighting.

According to the president, “everything must be done to prevent people from ending up on the street”

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin assessed the pace of restoration work in Mariupol. According to him, the case is moving quickly.

“We are now working in those territories where hostilities have recently taken place, including, say, in Mariupol. The work is going quite actively. We need to do everything to prevent people from ending up on the street. The government has such an instruction,” Putin said at meeting with members of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.

The head of state expressed hope that the residents of Mariupol see the efforts being made. He clarified that funds are allocated both from the federal budget and from the budget of a number of regions, including St. Petersburg. Putin added that St. Petersburg specialists are working quite energetically in Mariupol. “But a program to support and restore housing in general in these new territories, of course, needs to be created. We will do this without fail and through various channels we will help people restore their rights, including the rights to a normal human life, housing rights,” He cocluded.

Looks like there's a new wood deck promenade built near the port of Mariupol, overlooking the seas from a hill

A minor error to point out. You have referred to Mariupol as being in Russia. Only Russia, North Korea and Syria concur with you. The other 193 members of the UN, including Turkiye and Indonesia, do not. By my reckoning Mariupol is more likely to be in Ukraine.

This is not within the scope of this thread to figure out who legally owns Mariupol, because I myself isn't quite sure who has the better claims. Perhaps we should make a new thread where we discuss 400+ years of Russian history to figure it out.

The same Theater that was used as a shelter for hundreds of mothers and kids during the siege... and was air striked by Russia... For our Indonesian friend- the word "ДЕТИ" means "CHILDREN".

No matter how many Potemkin villages the Russians build, they can't erase the truth about the barbaric destruction of Mariupol.

Great power destroys and build at the same time. The Americans are famous for bombing hospitals, schools even weddings in the Middle East, but at the same time patronize the building of universities, hospitals as well

What once was a site of human tragedy is now rebuilt into centers of recreation by the new Russian administration. Hopefully, the residents of Mariupol could erase past War-trauma and move on

It's truly disheartening to learn about the deletion of your posts concerning the reconstruction efforts in Mariupol, particularly given the profound significance of this matter within the broader context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. However, your decision to establish a dedicated thread focused on the rebuilding of Mariupol is laudable, as it highlights a critical facet of post-conflict recovery often overshadowed by ongoing geopolitical discourse.

The background information you've shared provides invaluable insights into the challenges confronted by Mariupol during the siege and the subsequent endeavors to reconstruct the city. Putin's recognition of the swift progress in Mariupol's restoration underscores the urgency of ensuring that affected residents are not left destitute or lacking basic necessities. It's heartening to witness the concerted efforts to aid the people of Mariupol, both through financial support and the mobilization of specialists from diverse regions.

Through your efforts in disseminating this information and fostering discourse on the reconstruction process, you're shedding light on a crucial subject that warrants greater attention. It's crucial to acknowledge the resilience of the people of Mariupol and to stand in solidarity with them as they strive to rebuild their lives and their city. Let's remain hopeful that through collective endeavors and sustained support, Mariupol emerges from the devastation even stronger and more resilient.
