The Minister of Trade confirms: The Turks are ahead of the French in the number of foreign companies in Algeria
The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Kamal Rezik, revealed that Turkish companies topped the list of foreign dealers working in Algeria, followed by French companies that lost leadership since the period of leadership.. Riziq explained in a press conference yesterday that the interests of the commercial registry counted 9,648 foreign traders, including 2,471 natural and 7,177 legal, noting that the nationalities of foreign companies operating in Algeria are distributed between 14% Turkish, 13% French, 11% Syrian and 11% Chinese. The Turks work in various sectors in Algeria, most notably the construction, iron and steel industry, textiles and irrigation, and they are keen to have a strong presence in all international exhibitions held by Algeria to promote their products. According to the minister’s figures, Syrians top the category of natural traders with 30 percent, followed by Tunisians with 25 percent, and then Moroccans with 15 percent. These indicators, according to him, indicate the openness of the Algerian market to foreigners of various nationalities. On the other hand, Rizig praised Algeria’s achieving a trade balance surplus of $1.04 billion, as the value of exports outside hydrocarbons last November was estimated at $4.5 billion. The minister highlighted that putting the label on the national product will protect it from external competition, calling on importers to adopt the label in order to avoid importing prohibited products. The minister added that the national product card includes more than 10,200 economic agents, and 388,000 national products, reiterating President Tebboune’s pledge that 2022 will be a battle for the national product and the preservation of production capacity.
