Tunisia will host the multilateral naval exercise “PHOENIX EXPRESS 24” from November 4 to 15, in cooperation with the US Africa Command, with the participation of about 1,100 soldiers and observers representing 12 sisterly and friendly countries, namely Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Turkey, Italy, Malta, Belgium, Georgia, and the United States of America, in addition to Tunisia, the host country.
The northern coasts of Tunisia will witness the presence of 9 military ships that will participate in this exercise with the aim of strengthening cooperation and coordination between naval crews, training individuals, enhancing their capabilities to properly use marine systems, equipment and means, and developing their skills in confronting illegal activities at sea and all forms of threats and organized crimes such as smuggling and human trafficking, in order to preserve the security and stability of the Mediterranean.
On the sidelines of this exercise, theoretical lessons and practical workshops will be organized for the benefit of participants in several maritime fields, such as visiting and inspecting ships, diving techniques, maritime intelligence, resistance to biological and chemical weapons, health support, first aid, and laws regulating maritime activities.
