This morning, Minister of National Defense Ibrahim Al-Burtaji at the National Center for Remote Sensing and Mapping inaugurated the works of the Strategic Planner Seminar of the Ministry of National Defense 2021-2030 in the presence of members of the Supreme Council of Armies and a number of retired commanding officers, experts, and academics interested in defense and security.

On the occasion, the Minister of National Defense highlighted that the topic of this symposium is within the framework of anticipation, anticipation, and preparation in light of what the security situation will impose at the national, regional and international levels in the next decade and what may arise from risks, threats and potential crises that have an impact on the country's security and stability.

He indicated that the restructuring of the National Army has become unresponsive to the requirements of the current stage and no longer accommodates the developments taking place in light of the new and varied threats, the increase in the number of members of the armed forces, their increasing needs and the expansion of their areas of intervention.

He highlighted that the national security policy represents the main framework incubating the strategic plan, as it includes the principles, priorities, frameworks and means to ensure the country's security and stability, the continuity of the state and its institutions, and the security of society and the citizen. He pointed out that this policy is based on a framework based on a set of national and international obligations and adopts good governance for the conduct of the various structures and institutions concerned with the security and defense sector.

He stressed that the proposed strategic plan aims mainly to modernize the capabilities of the military institution and develop it to manage crises and confront traditional and non-traditional threats, through developing the legal and administrative system of the military institution, developing the combat capabilities of armies, raising their readiness, developing human resources, tightening health and social awareness of them, advancing the military infrastructure and developing governance Administrative and financial management, its digitization, the enhancement of the developmental role of the military and its development, support for military industrialization, the valuation of military scientific research, the development of the forward-looking system, the strengthening of the military’s openness to its surroundings, and support for its radiance at the national and international levels.

He expressed his hope that this symposium will produce practical recommendations that will help formulate the content of the strategic plan to be a unified reference over the next decade, in order for the military institution to reach the highest levels of professionalism and radiation at home and abroad.

it's been in service for so long it became iconic but they do have some criticism for it , they say it does not withstand the heat and it over heat so quickly.

Hmm that explains especially Tunisia's desert conditions. Will there be a replacement for the AUG.
