On March 20 of each year, Tunisia celebrates Independence Day, and on this national occasion, official processions are held to raise the national flag, a symbol of the country's sovereignty and independence.
The Tunisian flag was officially adopted in 1831 by a decision of Hossein Bey II, then the Constitution of 1959 approved it as a symbol of national sovereignty, and on June 30, 1999 its dimensions and features were clearly defined in a legal text.
In the 2014 constitution, the Tunisian flag was defined as follows:
“The flag of the Tunisian Republic is red, and in the center is a white disk with a five-pointed red star surrounded by a red crescent.”
The dear Tunisian flag will remain a symbol of national sovereignty, identity, belonging, glory, radiance, a source of prestige and enthusiasm, and an inexhaustible aid for the high patriotic spirit. The National Army will also remain its guardian and entrusted with it, so that it will remain a fluttering in the sky of Tunisia high forever.
