Turkey and Algeria are preparing for new cooperation projects in energy and mining

According to the written statement made by the Algerian Ministry of Energy, Energy Minister Muhammed Arkab had a meeting with Turkey's Ambassador to Algeria Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.

During the meeting, Arkab presented "cooperation opportunities in the fields of energy and mining, including oil exploration and exploration, development of the petrochemical industry, electricity generation and distribution."

At the meeting, preparations for the Turkey-Algeria Joint Economic Commission (KEK) meeting to be chaired by the Algerian Ministry of Energy were also discussed.

In his assessment to the AA correspondent regarding the meeting, Ambassador Göktaş said, "After about 10 years, the Turkey-Algeria Joint Economic Commission (KEK) meeting will be held in Algeria in November. The energy forum that will bring together Turkish and Algerian energy companies in the margin of the KEK meeting to be held under the co-chairmanship of the energy ministers. In this way, our companies in the energy sector will also have the opportunity to have important contacts." said.

Göktaş also said that "Turkey-Algeria 11th Term JEC meeting will ensure that bilateral relations are handled comprehensively and carried forward".

The groundbreaking ceremony of a petrochemical factory project in Adana, in partnership with Rönesans Holding from Turkey and Sonatrach, the Algerian National Petroleum Company, is planned to be held this weekend with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

It is reported that Sonatrach will supply 450 tons of propane gas to this factory to be used as a raw material in the production of polypropylene, which is frequently used in industry.

It was announced that 66 percent of the project, whose cost is expected to reach 1.4 billion dollars, will belong to Rönesans Holding, and 34 percent to Sonatrach.
