Ergenekon and Balyoz were two alleged coup conspiracies made up by Gulenists to empty the military ranks from patriotic soldiers so that their own could rise up and take over. The public prosecutor of Ergenekon: Zekeriya Oz is a fugitive right now.
They also entered the Kozmik oda(cosmic room: basically the state room that contains state secrets) over an alleged assassination conspiracy against Bulent Arinc(one of the Erdogan staffs, Erdogan and Gulenists cooperated). It was an American operation to reach to our state secrets. They revealed the Turkish plan for an operation against Greece in case it was required. Sth that every state has for its neighbours. Militaries make these plans as they are supposed to think of everything possible scenario. So it did not mean Turkish military was up to sth or anything. Only difference is that we were(and probably still are) surrounded by a strong gladio to spoil our plans.
Your country is also possibly surrounded by Gladio but you are lucky that your interests align with US. For some reason US found us unreliable and wants to divide us/weaken us/drag us to civil war. Maybe they think we are too big and have potential.
Even Erdogan and political islam rose with US support against the Kemalist bureucracy. Dont be fooled by his circumstantial shift to anti-US stance. Thats a story since 2015. They demonise him since around then. Back then, they couldnt praise him enough. He was allegedly even going to join Turkey to EU.
Back then too there were people unjustifiedly thrown into prisons. Only difference being they were real patriots. Yes, HDP ministers situation may not be totally by the book in the jurisdical system but at least they are indeed terrorist supporters and they helped Erdogan rise to power ''yetmez ama evet''(their infamous support slogan for Erdogans new constitution in 2010), same goes for Gulenists. It is basically ''the weigher you broke its balance, will one day turn around and weigh you'' situation. They helped Erdogan getting authoritarian because he cooperated with them against Turkey and Kemalist bureucracy but due to losing power he had to ally with Mhp and since then he is draining blood from their asses with the powers they helped him to obtain.
Anyway, I was saying US, EU, UN never complained when it was the innocent patriot Turkish soldiers that were being thrown at prisons in early 2000s. Erdogan was a democracy and humanitarian hero for them. But when he did the same for this time real terrorists they today demonize him.
