Just read the first article, and I would've believed it until they started talking about Greece and Egypt's air force.

Our F-16 modernized to Block 70 standard is more then enough for now.

I love the plane but this doesnt seem like a good choice. If there is a need for a stop gap aircraft there is nothing better then the newest F-16's or if we are deadseat on twin engines perhaps even F-15 or Eurofighter.
