The date has been set for the Defence Port Turkey South Asia, which will be held for the 6th time this year. The exhibition, which will be held virtually for the first time due to COVID-19, will be organized by video conference between 26-28 October 2020. Military delegations from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will attend the event.

"We chose the countries of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, where the Turkish defence industry is heavily active in the market, from South Asia," Hakan Kurt, president of the Capital Exhibition, which organized the fair, said in a statement.

The fair aims to make the Turkish defence industry more effective in the world market and to increase cooperation with South Asian countries. "ASELSAN has made sales of $1 billion in Pakistan alone in 26 years. Turkey's biggest contract is with Pakistan with ATAK helicopters. These three countries are a very hot defence industry market for Turkey. They have various cooperation opportunities. Our main goal is to achieve the $5 billion target in these three countries over the next 10 years. 5 billion dollars of exports to the three countries in the next 10 years can be realized very easily," Kurt said.

The aim of the fair is to ensure that the three countries export defence industry worth five billion U.S. dollars over the next 10 years.

Insha-Allah Bangladesh will cooperate with Turkey on not only purchases, but also development and risk-sharing programs for all defence projects going forward.

May the friendship, fellow-feeling and economic ties between the people of our two countries grow from strength to strength in the near future.
