The Star and Crescent Project is a project to brings together different branches of the Turkish military headquarters in one campus in Ankara. The shape of the building is basically a pentagon.

Another big construction project 🤦‍♂️

Is this really a priority?
Turkey is big in construction, comes second after China, piece of cake and it is good for the economy when the government want to boost the economy they incentivize construction. And it has been in the agenda for several years already.

Yes and we saw how this policy failed miserably.

Its probably good to centralize them, but I'm sure the people working there will not appreciate the weird walls in the star shaped building. Reminds me of round skyscrapers where people struggle to put their furniture somewhere useful because of the shaped walls.

A long needed project (if i recall correctly this project was meant to start several years ago, looks like some other construction projects of diyanet have been more important than a joint command campus), but now i wonder what will happen to older HQ of the forces?

Those HQs are placed in the most central and isolated place of Ankara, full of green and well preserved surrounding. Construction of new luxury houses by some well known contractor is loading on these well preserved areas?

Let's hope the forces do not give up from the older HQs but moves the top command to the Ay yildiz campus.

Also don't forget how we used to laugh at some countries who keep building bases and ports without any experienced officers. Let's not fall into their position by merely focusing at cool looking buildings and forgetting what matters the most in an army.

We all know what is going to happen to these lands: privatized, sold to some yandas contractor and skyscrappers and luxurious apartments are rising and being sold to the foreigners.

I think it is good, the central command and defense ministry in the same compound. Short lines for decision making.

It is not a pentagon as it has 10, not 5 corners but the idea is of course the same.

Since we have more and more cross border operations / war like situations it is good to centralize the command structures.
