Turkish Rebublic's first aircraft factory, TOMTAŞ, revived with the joint venture agreement signed between ASFAT, TAI and Erciyes Teknopark. With an investment of 200 million dollars, 2 thousand qualified jobs will be provided.

The factory, where all the sub-systems needed by the aviation industry will be produced and aircraft maintenance activities will be carried out, will see an investment of 200 million dollars first and 2,000 qualified jobs will be provided.

The first step for the allocation of approximately 800 decares of land on which the aviation ecosystem will be located came from Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Assembly. The land was allocated to TOMTAŞ with the unanimous vote of council members from different political parties. The facility will include hangars, R&D centers, test laboratories, wind turbines and simulation centers. Within the scope of the project, which will include runways suitable for test flights and an integrated campus, activities will be carried out in many basic areas from aircraft structural manufacturing to aircraft maintenance, from general aviation activities to flight training programs, from sub-unit assembly to retrofit, and from original and national platform production.

Ali Ekşi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TOMTAŞ Investment, said: "TOMTAŞ family consists of TAI, one of the most important aviation companies in the world, ASFAT, the concessionaire of 70 years of aviation experience in Kayseri, Erciyes Teknopark, the largest technology development zone in Central Anatolia, and businessmen from Kayseri. Our country's entrepreneurial culture, geostrategic location, almost 100 years of aviation experience, competitive power and unlimited potential have given birth to TOMTAŞ. In line with our country's vision of the Turkish Century, we are shouldering the realization of 100-year dreams and establishing a center where the aviation and space technology ecosystem will come to life."

(...)

Our work continues within the business model and structure that has been created with great care from the very beginning. In the meantime, I would like to share some good news. Our workbenches for the first phase manufacturing infrastructure have started to arrive. We will hopefully start trial productions in September."

TOMTAŞ is back. It is a strategic step in the aerospace industry of our country, which will have a very important place in the structural manufacturing, final assembly line and perhaps in the civil aircraft branch of TAI in the near future. Above all, it has a great psychological meaning. It is a rare gift to keep the memory of Başbuğ Atatük alive and to commemorate the centenary of our republic.
