No one asked those small countries to joint NATO or European Union, no one else coerce them to joint any alliances. If they want to joint NATO it is their right as an independen country. If they joint CSTO it is their right. Hence many bigger country like France or Germany sometimes had opposed the expansion of NATO because free loader issue and budget commitment. But alas those smaller countries feel more safe within NATO compared to being Russian stooge like Belarus. And you should not using your Bangladesh logic when talking about European countries sovereignty issue after repeatedly being threatened by Kremlin.

Look at Moldova, Poland, Lithuania, Georgia and so on they are repeated victim by the Russian foreign policy, and now Ukraine.

Russian under Putin is expansionist and imperialist in nature. They are land hungry Country who thrived with extraction of natural resource economy, much more like middle age era. Unlike modern country which thrived over with the expansion of manufacturing and trading, Russia today is doing the opposite as they are being ruled by simple oligarch power who control mining and agriculture industry in Russia.
