2x Mi-8
1X Su-35
1X Su-34
This is just not friendly fire.
russian AD could shoot down one aircraft accidentally, but not 4-5 in russian space.
Official government responsible are not giving any news.
Something tells me that Some real thing is happening

Surely there should be other things involved. The speculation right now is UKR using AIM-120 from the new Polish Migs. They could have been working on the integration since months ago or even NASAMS. But we should wait for more reliable news.

If it is Ukraine 🇺🇦 I think a more realistic explanation is that they realized that Russian aircraft were flying carelessly through the Bryansk region, feeling safe. They then set up an air defense system close to the border, but kept it offline until they were ready to execute the operation. They then turned it online, used its long range RADAR to track aircraft over Russia and started picking then off before Russia knew what's up.

I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

Just to summarize the most important developments of the last 48h:
- Russian lines at Bakhmut crumbling
- Losing 2 jets and 3 choppers
- Rear bases in Russian-occupied Luhansk getting eliminated
- Russians deploying T-54/55
- Panic and chaos among Russian pilots/troops
- Prigozhin calling for Rebellion
- The Ukrainian counteroffensive hasn't even started, yet.

The new weapon list is quite long. Ukraine is to receive 20 more Marder armored personnel carriers and 30 Leopard 1 tanks.
In addition, the delivery of 18 wheeled howitzers is imminent, which had already been announced at the end of 2022.
In addition, the federal government plans to deliver 4 more Iris-T-SLM air defense systems, 12 Iris-T-SLS launchers, and hundreds of SAM for the system.

Iris-T is considered one of the most modern anti-aircraft systems in the world. Two Iris-T units that have already been delivered have intercepted many Russian missiles and drones in recent months.

In addition, Ukraine is to receive 15 more Gepard anti-aircraft system from industrial stocks. This system is also already in use after previous deliveries and has proven to be very effective, according to Ukrainian military personnel.

Berlin also wants to help Ukraine reconnoiter enemy positions. The delivery of up to 200 reconnaissance drones is planned. It is also planned to hand over 100 protected combat vehicles, which will primarily be used to transport troops to the front, and over 100 logistical support vehicles.

If this counteroffensive fails.. Ukraine won't get another chance.

I posted about this earlier today, with a link. I appreciate you following up with another post to emphasize just how big of a commitment this is from a country not named America.

This is not true. The West is committing tons of military equipment to Ukraine that won't arrive until late 2023 and throughout 2024. Ukraine had millions of men in terms of manpower and tens of thousands that are currently training Britain, Germany, Poland etc. While it would not be good if Ukraine's counter offensive failed, it won't be the end of their offense opportunities.

Over the next year you can expect the following (at a minimum) to arrive in Ukraine.

- 100'ish additional Leopard 2 MBTs
- 150'ish Leopard 1 MBTs
- 100'ish additional T-72 / PT-91MBTs
- 31 M1A1 Abrams MBTs
- 200 Rosomak IFVs
- 50 CV-90 IVFs
- 20 additional Marder IFVs
- 50+ additional Panzerhaubitze 2000, 155m self-propelled howit
- 16 additional Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers
- 15+ Dana M2, 152mm self-propelled howtizers
- 12 Archer, 155mm self propelled howitzers.
- 100'ish Kirpi MRAPS
- 100-200 Maxxpro MRAPs

That's just.a sampling of the equipment that has been committed to Ukraine that has not yet arrived. Not to mention, the inevitable, hundreds of MBTs and IFVs that will be announced (and donated) over the coming months. Remember that the USA can send another 100 Bradleys, 100 Strykers and dozens of MBTs in a heartbeat.

Meanwhile, another 50,000+ Ukrainian troops will be trained abroad between now and this time in 2024.

maybe if they had not spent billions on wunderwaffe projects and invested in simpler tech like this , things could have been different for them.
The Russian armed force, especially the air force continues to be the big 'What If' in this war, certainly now its all too late for Russia to patch things up all over again.

Certainly this is not how I imagine a major power militaries operate.

Of course this counteroffensive won't be the last, but the disarray on the Russian side might not be there again.

Definitely an arms depot.
It is an old soviet air force ammo depot for decommisioning old rockets and missiles. They also decomm mines and old weapons there. I think they did that just for the boom and marketing if no west weapons were stored there, which I doubt.

Russian artillery around Bakhmut has been getting devastated this week. The question now is whether or not those experienced crews have been getting killed as well. Russia has TONS of artillery, but they're slowly burning through their best stuff and, presumably their best crews...

Meanwhile, despite Russia destroying about1/3 of the 150+ M777 Howitzers that USA, Canada and Australia originally sent Ukraine, the USA just announced that an undisclosed number of additional M777s will be sent over. It's speculated that the number is roughly 30, essentially replenishing the majority of the ones lost. Furthermore, the 32 AS-90, 155mm self-propelled howitzers that Britain pledged, have just recently arrived, along with 18 M109A6 Paladins pledged by the USA and the 19 CAESARs pledged by Denmark. Similarly, Germany announced that 18 of the 100 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howtizers that Ukraine ordered in 2022, will be delivered "imminently". The 8, Swedish pledged 155mm Archer howitzers are also on route, as soon as training is completed.

As Ukraine's artillery capability takes a big jump forward, with the delivery of some of the finest systems in the world, Russia's artillery is taking an absolute beating on the flanks of Bakhmut. Even more importantly, extremely hard to replace crews, with tons of experience and being liquidated.

The West needs to keep the artillery coming. The following have been ordered / committed, but many have yet to fully arrive in Ukraine... The sooner, the better.

100x 155mm, Panzerhaubitze 2000, self-propelled howitzers (Germany)
30x 152mm DANA M2, self-propelled howitzers (Czech Republic)
54x 155mm KRAB, self-propelled howitzers (Poland)
24x 155mm SHKH ZUZANA 2, self-propelled howitzers (Slovakia)
8x 155mm ARCHER, self-propelled howitzers (Sweden)
24x 120mm M120 RAK, self-propelled mortars (Poland)

New news coming out of Europe over the weekend. While Zelensky visited France 🇫🇷 Macron promised a new military aid package for Ukraine. In typical French style, not all details of the package were made public, but one component of the package was. France promised to send more AMX-10RC tank destroying infantry fighting vehicles, in sufficient quantities to equip several battalions. I don't think 50 units would be out of the question given how many are needed to form a battalion.

Zelensky also visited Britain 🇬🇧 and Rishi Sunak. The Brits also promised a new military aid package to Ukraine, containing hundreds of aerial attack drones of an unspecified type (200km range), as well as hundreds of additional air defense missiles to help replenish Ukraine's stocks. Also, they confirmed that Britain will host a training plan for Ukrainian pilots, beginning this summer. The program is aimed at re-training experienced jet pilots to fly the F-16.

Less noticed than more significant support from governments but also greatly appreciated, Czech volunteers raised money for the purchase of RM-70 MLRS. The RM-70 is expected to be handed over to the Ukrainian military within a few weeks along with 365 122-mm missiles.
