Additional news coming out of France today. Macron said France will train Ukrainian pilots moving forward. No promise was made to provide Ukraine with fighter jets and it was not disclosed on which aircraft Ukrainians will be trained to fly in France. Macron specified that the training can start immediately, as France is prepared to start today.

What's happening right now, in my humble opinion is they were already training jetfighter pilots for months on Mirages and F-16 at least (maybe F-18, A-10, Grippen, Tornadoes?) and they are announcing it these days. It's just a political thing to announce it right now, but Moscow knows it. It's just another measure of pressure, if you want to keep along, we will fill Ukraine with jetfighters armed to the teeth, and despite we are going to tell them to not use on Russian lands, we can't guarantee it.

France is sending a batch of SS (scalp in French terms) whithin the last package, they might be already in UKR, hidden in a place which is not a weapons base built by soviets.
Germany is sending 4 IRIS-T batteries and a lot of stuff.

That's a clear message, stop or you will be slaped so hard. But Putin won't stop.

What I'm wondering is if there was a training program that selected regular Ukrainians that were performing so good on PC simulators and after taking some tipical flight courses on Cesnas and other light planes, they started to train on real planes months ago. Someone thinks this is posible?

Less noticed than more significant support from governments but also greatly appreciated, Czech volunteers raised money for the purchase of RM-70 MLRS. The RM-70 is expected to be handed over to the Ukrainian military within a few weeks along with 365 122-mm missiles.
Another donation happened quietly as well. It wasn't publicly announced beforehand, but Romania has donated at least 4 (pictured) 122-mm MLRS APR-40 systems to Ukraine. There might be more, but I can't make that claim given that they are not pictured and Romania hasn't noted the donation. Presumably, Ukraine also donated some quantity of 122mm rockets as well. I suspect that's true as it has been rumoured that Romania has been sending various types of Soviet caliber ammunition since the outset of the war.

I think this is a good take. I do believe that there have been an initial cadre of Ukrainians pilots that have been training around the world. I do think there are at least SOME that are in the advanced phase of training on one or more western airframes. I don't think for a second that they would be starting from scratch right now. What I think is going on is that the West is "boiling the frog" again and preparing Russia for the transfer of Western fighters to Ukraine. The easiest way to facilitate that preparation is talk about first about pilots. That gives Russia the heads up that jets are inevitable. The West sees that "lack of surprise" as a good way to measure Russia's response accordingly.

Putin, I think he also emulated the American "Bush family". It cannot stop attacking weak countries. But Putin also disgraced his country like the "Bush family".

Zelensky, zelensky. The second "Mussolini" human history has ever seen. Both collaborated with foreigners and destroyed their countries and peoples.
Bisbis, my guy, your takes just keep getting worse.

Mussolini bet on a German victory and joined the aggressor in an attempt to conquer Europe (and much of the world). He was completely cucked by Hitler. He didn't fight back against the aggressor, he joined them in their conquest of their neighbours.

That's not Zelensky at all. Russia invaded his country and wanted to arrest / execute the government and pull the remainder of the country under Russian influence. They fought back for the right to exist as a nation. Do you know who is actually Mussolini in this scenario? Alexander Lukashenko. He and Belarus are completely cucked by Putin and Russia. He's ruining his country's relationship with the rest of Europe, while allowing Russia to bomb civilians from their territory.

I don't think this was previously shared on the board, despite being announced a couple weeks back. The U.S. Army signed a $2.4 billion usd contract with Lockheed Martin, to produce PAC-3 missiles for Patriot missile systems. The contract starts immediately and the production line is scheduled to run until 2029. Obviously, this is a replenishment package given how many missiles USA has sent / will send to Ukraine.

Despite the number of missiles not being disclosed, we know the estimated cost per PAC-3 missile (the most advanced air defense missile in the West) is between $4-$6 million usd per unit. That means the USA 🇺🇸 is ordering between 400-600 of them, which equates to roughly 75-100 that will be delivered each year between 2024-2029.

They are highly effective, but damn are they expensive.

Per Oryx, the jointly supplied Italian / French SAMP-T air defense system has now arrived in Ukraine for their use against Russian missile bombardment.

In the last year of non-stop fighting in Ukraine (May 16th, 2022-May 16th, 2023) this map shows the territorial gains of each nation. Russia, despite losing more than 100,000 soldiers in the timeframe alone, as well as a significant quantity of their modern army equipment, has lost substantially more land than they've gained.

This war is going absolutely horribly for Russia, as the West continues to ramp up supplies / capabilities for Ukraine. It's May 16th and Russia has still not taken Bakhmut. That's unbelievably bad for them given the amount of war resources they burned through to take a small city, with no strategic value.

Russians should be begging Zelensky for a diplomatic solution as soon as possible. Russia has no way to stop the support Ukraine recieves, as it stands now the west is making Russia bleed intentionally. Maybe one day even F35's are sent to Ukraine.

This war cannot be won by Russia, the extent in which they lose can only be decided by the Russian side. If they continue to wage war the long term outcome is guaranteed.

Its unfortunate for the Ukrainian people but the longer it goes on is only good news for every nation Russia has a problem with. Keep bleeding, keep failing, keep humiliating yourself globally.
