Baykar invests $100 million in Ukraine

September 30, 2023, 12:20

Baykar CEO noted Ukraine's support

Baykar has three main investments in Ukraine. One of them is a drone production plant, the construction of which will be completed in 1.5 years.

The Turkish company Baykar, which produces Bayraktar TB2 combat drones, is investing $100 million in three projects in Ukraine. This was stated by Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar at the Defense Industries Forum in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, the construction of the drone production plant will be completed in 1.5 years.

"We have three main investments in Ukraine. One of them is a plant. Then we have a service center, as well as a head office here... This is an investment that amounts to about $100 million, and the process has already begun. Construction has already begun. It will be completed it will take about 1.5 years. We plan to have at least 300 people working here. Cooperation continues," Bayraktar said.

He noted that production will be self-sufficient, environmentally friendly and mutually beneficial, since Ukraine has unique technologies for the production of engines, and the Turkish side has drones on which these engines are installed.

“We also face some challenges. These are the supply chain, the search and development of human capital through the impact of war and the regulatory environment, especially those rules that will support these investments,” said the head of the Turkish company.

He added that the current war has become a war of unmanned aerial vehicles, and Ukraine has some advantage in it, in particular due to the use of different types of devices, although this is difficult to implement. Feedback in the use of technology from the military is especially important under such conditions. That is why the “bayractors” used in Ukraine were equipped with a number of unique systems.

The CEO of Baykar noted the support of Ukraine. According to him, all donations from both the Baykar company and Ukraine and Poland were used, in particular, for the purchase of radar systems. The total volume of these donations amounted to $106 million.

Strange, they could afford $200K RWS per IFV but couldn't afford civilian diesel engine to repower the "BMP-1LB", there's like a lot of 300hp+ engines out there that cost like sub $10K incl used ones.

“On a straight road, it can reach speeds of up to [31 miles per hour], but the speed drops sharply with the emergency maneuvers between the obstacles.” “According to the military, during the movement in forests, the speed of BMPs was sometimes equal to the speed of soldiers.” That’s slow.

Russians use their artillery sparringly due to shortage of barrels "As artillery officers from the headquarters of the Northern Military District told us, now the artillery barrel production resource is about 80%, and this explains the low artillery support of our defending units. They save the resource of barrels to deter the enemy in the event of a big breakthrough. New barrels are not arriving, since the technology for their mass production is almost lost. Now they are removing barrels from equipment that is located at storage bases that have a service life of at least 50%. Of course, we will fulfill our tasks, but where is the role and place of Shoigu-Gerasimov in forecasting this issue before the start of the SVO. Now, because of this miscalculation, the guys are paying with their lives, and the troops have switched from offensive to defensive."

"A piece of supporting evidence is to look at the calibres of the destroyed Russian artillery. In the chart below you can see how Russias main artillery calibre at the start 152mm has started to become less and less common. 152mm is a good size for artillery if Russia moves to smaller it’s because they have to, not because they want to."

Grant Shapps to send UK troops to Ukraine
Army will train Zelensky’s military on the ground and Navy may move into Black Sea

In an interview with The Telegraph, Grant Shapps said that he had held talks with Army leaders about shifting an official British-led training programme “into Ukraine” rather than relying on UK and other Nato members’ bases. He also called on more British defence firms to set up factories in Ukraine.

Following a trip to Kyiv last week, Mr Shapps also revealed that he had talked to Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, about how Britain’s Navy could play a role in defending commercial vessels from Russian attacks in the Black Sea.

Britain will deploy troops in Ukraine for the first time

The British Defense Minister also called on British defense firms to open factories in Ukraine.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Grant Shapps said that he had held talks with Army leaders about shifting an official British-led training programme “into Ukraine” rather than relying on UK and other Nato members’ bases. He also called on more British defence firms to set up factories in Ukraine.

Britain’s Navy could play a role in defending commercial vessels from Russian attacks in the Black Sea.

Both moves would mark a significant escalation in the UK’s involvement in defending Ukraine against Vladimir Putin’s onslaught.

Have become the enemy of freedom 😂 😂 😂

freedom = U.S. foreign policy of containment and.....

You always gotta cloak your foreign policies and interests with humanism or humanatarian BS.

You cant motivate people to fight for oil or to fight Russia or China. Because will be saying whats in it for me why should I fight? What have they done to me.

People will be asking lots of questions.

imo this trick is outdated, might've worked in the 30s- early 2000s, but the internet meant that people were increasingly savvy about what politics are. And cloaking it with words like "freedom" won't cut it anymore.

An amendment to the defense funding bill by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., to prohibit all military assistance to Ukraine won 93 Republican votes Wednesday, as 126 Republicans and all 213 Democrats voted against it. That’s up from 70 Republicans who voted for a similar measure by Gaetz in July.

A separate amendment by Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., to slash $300 million in arms assistance for Ukraine — an allocation that has been the status quo since Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014 — got 104 GOP votes, with 117 Republicans joining 213 Democrats to vote it down.

Both amendments failed in lopsided votes, but the GOP opponents succeeded in getting leadership to strip out the Ukraine funding and try to pass it as a separate bill anyway. Their resistance points to a growing populism within the party, which some Republicans have likened to a new isolationism that questions the value of the current global order and the necessity of preventing a Russian victory in Ukraine.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., warned McCarthy against allowing “a small band of very extreme members” to override the will of a bipartisan majority on assistance to Ukraine.

Vo Nguyen Giap won the Viet Nam war by defeating the U.S. at home, let's see if master strategist Putin understands this better or worse than Giap
