The obvious difference is that the Afghan population had no interest in running their own country. Western tax payer money was wasted for years trying to remake that country in the image of a Western democracy, but the people there had no real interest in that outcome.

Ukraine is a totally different story. The overwhelming majority of the population view themselves as Westerners and there is a deep desire in most of the country to join the EU and NATO. It's also a strategically important country to the West, unlike Afghanistan, which possessed little in the way of strategic importance.

The most important point is that we don't have to fight Ukraine's war for them. They're willing to pay a heavy toll for freedom from Russian oppression, all we have to do is spend miniscule percentages of our annual budgets to ensure that they have what they need to survive as a nation. They're highly motivated, have proven plenty capable of war fighting despite Russia possessing significant military advantages and they're aligning their defense industry with those of the West.

Afghanistan and Ukraine are not remotely comparable, IMO.

In todays Afghan, though taxes are lowered, the tax income of the central governing is much higher then during " the democratic experiment ". Not much is being built but even that is more than during 20 years od " democratic experiment ".
Streets are safer than during the democratic experiment. 90% of money spent for democratic experiment was actually spent in USA.
Yes Afghanistan is different to Ukraine and there are obvious differences but the thieving and drivel are the same.

You are in the habit in not answering anything. But it is not surprising, what possibly you can answer?

Previously, the Ukrainian army received about 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles from Germany. Visually, the combat vehicle is almost operational and has full ammunition. The combat vehicle was damaged in the Avdiivka direction and got stuck in the mud; later Ukrainian units tried to destroy it. The evacuation of the Ukrainian Marder infantry fighting vehicle was reportedly carefully planned by the Russian army. The military carried out reconnaissance, engineers paved a new road, and sappers cleared minefields. Only after access to the vehicle was secured was it evacuated from the battlefield at night with the help of a tank. The vehicle will not be used in combat; presumably, the Marder BMP will be sent for study to Russia or shelling at a training ground.

Really good news on the shell front for Ukraine. The Czech led initiative to procure 800,000 155mm and 122mm shells from the international market has peaked the interest of more sellers wishing to replenish their inventories with new shells, while profiting.

The Czechs are now reporting that upwards of 1.5 million shells are now available to them on the international market, an additional 700,000 than was previously known.

At an approximate cost of $2000 per shell on the international market, it would cost the West approximately $3 Billion usd to purchase the entire 1.5 million shell lot. That shell quantity would be more than enough to bridge the gap for the remainder of 2024, until EU / American shell manufacturing reaches peak capacity in early 2025.

Lukashenko claims that the terrorists were going to Belarus, not Ukraine. It's only after Belarus (warned by Russia) blocked its border, than the terrorists made an u-turn to try to go to Ukraine. In normal times, the Belarus-Russia border is a lot less monitored than the Ukraine-Russia border. It's why I think Lukashenko's claim is very credible. It's not the first time Luka wants his actions to be recognized by Putin; I guess he was piss off not hearing about the role played by his services.

My theory is that after Belarus, the terrorists would have likely go through Poland to end in Germany, where there are enough ISIS sympathisers in the muslim population to host them/give them fake passports. It's much more logical than the Ukraine option because let's be serious : before Putin's accusations, whoever heard about ISIS people in Ukraine? Germany, or other west european countries, are a much more credible place to find a refuge for ISIS guys.

This is indeed great news. European countries should immediately secure those shells, as the price per unit is much cheaper than whatever is produced in Europe.

All the old artillery shells that stay in deposits around the world should be bought and fired on Russian positions. There is really no better use for them.
