In the wake of Ukraine penetrating more than 30 kms into Kursk Oblast, they have now struck the Russian Air Force Base in the city of Lipetsk, using a barrage of long range drones. The ammunition storage facility at the base was struck, causing a significant detonation. Apparently secondary detonations are continuing and Russia is evacuating 4 communities surrounding the base. More to follow as the damage to the base becomes clear.

Furthermore, Ukraine has also struck the Metallurgy Plant in the city of Lipetsk with a wave of drones. This enormous facility is Russia's largest producer of steel.

More to follow as video becomes available!

There are Rumors of tactical nuclear Weapons being used.

Good. Whenever there is talk about the use of nukes, it means the Russians are getting desperate and are no longer confident about the situation on the front. So let’s hope more and more talk about nukes in the following days.

Tactics of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region of Russia. Mikhail Zvinchuk, the author of the project "Rybar", published a video of the tactics of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region of Russia. According to him, Ukrainian troops entered in small groups of three to six armored vehicles. Tactics of action, a third of the group pins down a Russian stronghold, others bypass it, entering nearby settlements and organizing ambushes on the roads, mining them.
Russian reinforcements are attacked, after which the Ukrainian group leaves the village. Thus, it seems that many villages are controlled by the Ukrainian army. Which can lead to panic and misinterpretation of the military situation on the ground.
Let me remind you that the Ukrainian army, numbering up to a thousand people, attacked the border area of the Kursk region of Russia on August 6 at 5:30 am. Military operations in the Kursk region continue, the Russian army is pulling in reserves.

The Ukrainian army has published footage of the entry of military units into the Kursk region of Russia on August 6. The video shows a battle with a Russian stronghold and shows destroyed Ukrainian equipment and a military medical service vehicle. The Ukrainian army is bringing up reserves, and the Russian army is doing the same. In the video, you can also see the evacuation of a Ukrainian VAB armored personnel carrier in the Kursk region and the evacuation of an International Maxxpro armored vehicle by an M88A2 Hercules repair and recovery vehicle. In some cases, the evacuation is carried out without hindrance. The Ukrainian army has begun to dig in in the Kursk region and is bringing up heavy equipment. According to experts, if the situation does not change within a week, the fighting will turn into a positional war and will drag on for a long time. Against this background, rumors have emerged about the need for a new wave of mobilization in Russia, officials deny its necessity. But according to experts, the 1,500 km long front line, the entry of Ukrainian troops into the Kursk region and the threat to the Bryansk region indicate that there is a shortage of 700,000 personnel, especially units with drones.

Lol I've been saying this very thread for months. Ukraine would be using their F-16s to fly top cover over their cities, tasked with intercepting Russian drones and cruise missiles. AIM-120B/C and AIM-9M are more than capable of completing said task, as has been proven by firing the same missiles from Ukraine's NASAMs systems.

Gradually, as an influx of pilots and airframes are introduced to the theater, the role of the F-16 will expand. They will be used to fire HARM anti-radiation missiles to their fullest capability in a "wild weasel" capacity. Later still, they'll be used to launch JDAMS against Russian "hard" targets. The intent was never to have F-16 engaging SU-35s in air-to-air dog fights. They can, however, stay in Ukraine's SAM net and act as a significant deterent to Russian CAS aircraft such as SU-25s and KA-52s. AIM-120Cs are MORE THAN CAPABLE of scoring kills on those airframes, while primarily fulfilling airborne air defense duties.

The West is well aware of the capabilities and limitations of the F-16 models that Ukraine has received with the MLU upgrade. These aircraft were never meant to get into standoff engagements with SU-34s and SU-35s. In a conflict between USA and Russia, the Americans would use low vis F-35s and F-22s to take advantage of Russia's awful airborne radars. Their R-37s would be virtually useless because the launch platforms from which they would normally be fired would be destroyed by modern AMRAAMs supported by far superior Western aircraft, with superior radars, that would allow the Americans to engage the SU model aircraft from ranges that far exceeded those of the Russians.
Bro you are literally suggesting that NATO will get involved in the conflict with F-22s and F-35s as your solution to deal with the fact Ukraine has received 35km-50km air to air missiles. Its like you are self-admitting the F-16s given are useless

Lol what are you talking about?

F-16s aren't even close to being useless. They're simply not going to be used to try to get in air-to-air battles with Russian SU-30s, SU-34s, SU-35s, especially not when they only have 6-10 jets (and a similar number of pilots) in their current arsenal.

Airborne air defense is a critical role for these F-16s, as is the engagement of Russian CAS support aircraft. Both roles are deeply needed in the UAF.

Hilarious seeing Putin getting a taste of his own medicine. How embarrassing for him.

I cant celebrate it too much, as its likely to be rolled back eventually, and not forgetting the thousands of russian civilians having to flee their homes, which despite their probably pro-war stance they still don't deserve.

To any more informed analysts among us, what are the key goals for this attack by Ukraine? Is it just to relieve pressure and draw in Russian units, a prelude to negotiations to strengthen their hand, or are there big strategic targets in the area that they want to target and destroy? How far do we think they will try to advance?

I'm wondering whether they will seek to hold the territory, or at some point quickly withdraw back beyond their border to avoid losses?

Also, any information as to whether the Russian volunteer regiments are involved in this incursion?

Regardless, it makes Putin look even more ridiculous and i am taking alot of satisfaction from that,

Its to relieve pressure and to try and create a diversion.

As Ukraine has advanced they were able to use Himars to attack Russian military bases inside Russia. I dont think they will go further. More deep they go the more their supply lines dwindle this would lead to ambushes.

But man for Russia to be attacked this deep is pretty embarassing as Putin really tried to sell off to the public that this war will never reach deep inside Russia now it has.

Its a risky gamble from Ukraine but as their front falters in the Donbass with enormous casualties. Breaking into Russia into Kursk should also raise their morale.

War is not over and Ukraine has the capabilities to strike offensively. Not to mention deep inside Russia its not well fortified compared to Donbass and Crimea.

Russia got its pants down. Literally reminds me of Mussolini getting counterattacked into Albania by Greece in WW2 lmao

There is talk about Ukrainians digging trenches on Russian territory, which would indicate that they plan to hold the territory, or at least defend it as much as they can to force high losses on the Russians when they try to take it back.

It would be foolish to just retreat, because retaking fortified territory is extremely costly. Russia is losing a lots of men and equipment in the Donbas for very slow advances, but it gains territory nevertheless. If Ukraine manages to take a big chunk of land in Kursk with very little losses, as it seems it is the case right now, they should quickly fortify it and make it very expensive for the Russians to take it back.

The way the war in the Donbass is going, Ukraine trades land for inflicting higher losses on the Russian side. Getting a big chunk of land inside Russia is extremely useful, as it will allow Ukraine to trade that land for more Russian loses, a land that it aquired rapidly and with very few losses.

I think it would be a big mistake for Ukraine to simply withdraw, and I doubt this will happen.

Also, keep in mind that Russia needs to completely destroy the territory they take back, as their tactics rely in artillery fire and dropping large glide bombs on the defensive positions. While in the Donbas they destroy Ukrainian land, doing the same in Kursk would force them to destroy Russian villages, which will not sit very well with the Russian population.

Ukraine’s top military commander says his forces now control 1,000 square kilometers (386 square miles) of Russia’s neighboring Kursk region, the first time a Ukrainian military official has publicly commented on the gains of the lightning incursion.

Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi made the statement in a video posted Monday to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Telegram channel. In the video, he briefed the president on the front-line situation.

“The troops are fulfilling their tasks. Fighting continues actually along the entire front line. The situation is under our control,” Syrskyi said.
