Have drones now reached the point where infantry can no longer operate effectively near front lines? Ukraine and Russia are now producing very large numbers of FPV drones. Those drones can target individual soldiers, reportedly with a high chance of neutralising them.

I suspect that warfare involving infantry has been changed radically due to the advent of FPV drones, particularly since FPV drones can be produced and fielded at low cost.

Footage of a Russian drone, presumably the FPV drone "Prince Vandal of Novgorod," striking a Ukrainian naval drone, the "Barracuda." The video was filmed in the Black Sea. The "Barracuda" naval drone is armed with four anti-aircraft missiles.

Ahead of tomorrow's Ramstein meeting, Germany 🇩🇪 announced a new, massive $4.7 Billion usd military aid package for Ukraine. The package consists of the following:

- $3.7 Billion usd for "hundreds" of PAC-2 GEM-T air defense missiles purchased from Raytheon and built in Germany.

- 8 Additional IRIS-T SLM Air Defense Systems, bringing the total committed to 36 SLM / SLS systems. IRIS-T missiles will provided alongside.

- 5000 mid range strike drones, to be built in Germany in collaboration with Ukraine.

- $300 million usd for joint development and production of additional long range systems.

Note: representatives of 50+ countries will gather at tomorrow's Ramstein summit. As a result, significant additional military aid is expected to be announced. This should be bolstered by Orban's ouster in Hungary and the European Union's anticipated passing of a $105 Billion usd military / financial aid package for Ukraine.

European and Canadian support for Ukraine appears solid.

I wonder if Russia has been able to mitigate the loss of use of the Starlink facility. Are Ukrainian reports of increasing daily Russian casualties connected to this?

Unless there has been some unreported turnaround in the Russian economy and finances, the outlook for Russia in its continuing war against Ukraine looks bleak. Perhaps Putin continues the war because he is psychologically incapable of facing failure and so cannot stop?

Footage of a Russian Kh-38 missile striking a temporary Ukrainian army base in the village of Lesnaya Stenka in the Kharkiv region. The building housed soldiers from the 77th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Army. The attack was carried out by a Su-34 fighter-bomber. As a result of the Kh-38 missile strike, part of the building was destroyed.

As things stand now, Russia is doomed to lose the war. If they were smart, they would have tried to negotiate a peace now, while the Ukrainians have something to gain from a negotiated settlement.

But Putin is too stupid to accept defeat, so he would go on with the war until there is nothing left of Russia.

As time passes, Ukraine gets stronger, with better technology, more drones and more long range capabilities. Meanwhile, Russia’s economy collapses, under the weight of sanctions and the destruction of their export terminals and refineries.

Ukraine’s long range strikes will only intensify with time, crippling Russia’s oil industry and its ability to earn hard currency.

And the worst part for Russia is that the European military industry is ramping up production, and most of it will go to Ukraine. Not only that Ukraine produces millions of drones and many missiles, but European production of drones and missiles will be added to their arsenals.

Russia will become the testing ground for European weapons. At this point, I don’t think Europe wants to stop the war anymore, as it has more to win from continuing it. And so does Ukraine’s MIC, which is gaining global recognition.

My prediction is that the war will end with the disintegration of the Russian Federation, when smaller oblasts dominated by ethnic minorities will start insurrections, and the central government will be unable to defend the fedration.

Ukraine will probably fight until it takes everything back, including Crimea.

I hope that you are right in predicting that all Ukrainians will be able to regain their freedom.

Putin planned a Blitzkrieg to seize power from the Ukrainian government but that did not succeed. Instead of then looking for pretexts to disentangle the Russian army, Putin opted to conquer the country slowly in a war of attrition. Over the course of several years that strategy has failed, too.

Putin is now trapped by his mistake but will not cut his losses and end the aggression. Instead he seems set on continuing down the path that has led to severe damage to the Russian economy. I hope he persists in his ruinous war resulting in the destruction of Russia's non-miltary economy and of its national finances.

Footage of a Russian drone strike on a Ukrainian locomotive. The video was filmed in Kherson. Strikes against locomotives hamper the Ukrainian army's logistics. It's worth noting that such attacks have been quite common.

"Ukrainian jets just did something that should have been impossible. On 14 April, they dropped American GBU-39 glide bombs on a Russian drone depot at Donetsk airport—a target 40 km behind the front line. The bomb only ranges 40 km from low altitude, meaning the launching MiG-29s either flew high over Russian-held territory or flew low and got close. A year ago, both were suicide. On 14 April, both came home. The reason is a methodical campaign that destroyed 492 Russian air defense systems between June and early March. "Collapsing the layered defensive architecture that the Russian integrated air defense doctrine depends upon to function," as http://Tochnyi.info put it. It's also why Russian Shahed strikes, once trending toward 7,000 a week, have flat-lined at 1,500. Ukraine is blowing the drones up before they fly. "

Ruzzians air defence is being hammered, and of course they had tons of it from CCCP era but its numbers are shrinking week after week.
And this is new phase of war. Russia is a huge country and that was their advantage during past wars. But now they need to protect more and more of that territory when every day drone can hit target 1000 or 2000 km from the front line.

It's crazy to me that Russian government has thrown more than 1 million of it's men into the wood chipper for almost no gain, and there has been almost no meaningful blowback against the Government from their populous. The people of Russia are either sheep or they absolutely despise their father's, sons, brothers and husbands.

What an absolutely deplorable country and awful people. I wish the absolute worst for them. One can hope that their social systems, pension funds and social fabric leave this war in shambles in order for their people to be subjected to a lifetime of immeseration for their collective cowardice.

May their life expectancy plummet, their infant mortality rate skyrocket, disease and addiction ravage their populous and may Russia fall into a century of despair.

Footage of Russian 152mm high-precision ZOF95 Krasnopol-M2 projectiles striking a temporary deployment point for Ukrainian units located in a multi-story building. The projectiles are fired by a Russian 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzer, and target illumination is provided by an Orlan-30 UAV. The video was filmed in Kostiantynivka in the Donbas. Five Ukrainian soldiers are believed to have been killed in the attack.

Archival footage of a Russian BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) in combat in Ukraine. The video shows a Russian BMP-2, supported by two tanks, disembarking troops and firing on a Ukrainian army stronghold. After disembarking, the IFV retreats to its initial positions and lays a smoke screen. The video was filmed in late 2023; the location is not disclosed.

The soldiers reached the strongpoint not inside the BMP, but on its roof. Since the armor offered no protection, they probably should have taken a bus🫢
At least it would have been faster.

We know from the wars in Afghanistan that all your APCs are just "mass graves for infantry." Have the Russians really failed to develop a decent armored vehicle for infantry in 40 years?

What's the reason?

Where are your legendary, unrivaled Armata tanks? Boomerangs? Terminators?

Listen, I want to ask you a simple question: do you believe you can defeat the Ukrainians?

Answer me directly, without a smokescreen, like that BMP in the video ;)

Even warbloggers from ruzzia are losing faith
"

Just so you know, the leading advocate of total war was an Austrian artist.
But...
I can understand those who demand mobilization, even though I signed the contract myself and forced all my relatives of draft age to sign it.
I can understand those who propose mobilization as an attempt to change something at the front due to the lack of other clear, understandable, and effective means they could offer.
In all other cases, the immediate question is:
Let's say 5 million citizens were mobilized. Naturally, most of them were forced. Through border closures, similar to the TCC, etc.
And is there even a 1% chance that in a year we won't have 500 square kilometers more, but 5 million fewer citizens?
"

Thay now can see that there are more and more new graves
"
"Guys, this was an empty field in the fall. Look at what's here now, there's no end in sight! It's heartbreaking, these are our fathers, husbands, and sons! How did they let this happen?"

Leningrad Region, Russia."
