Footage of a Russian drone strike on a Ukrainian locomotive. The video was filmed in Kherson. Strikes against locomotives hamper the Ukrainian army's logistics. It's worth noting that such attacks have been quite common.

Is it really that difficult to make railways disfunctional? It has been years but Ukraine still manages to run the trains. I would expect railways to be the first targets in a war.

There are too many of them, and railways are quickly repaired. Military equipment is more often transported on regular roads.

A Swedish view of Russia's economic situation, source UK newspaper Daily Mail

...the head of Sweden's Military Intelligence and Security Service, Thomas Nilson, now says that Russia will struggle to continue to finance its own invasion of Ukraine as the war with Kyiv enters its fifth year, leading to a 'financial disaster'.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Nilson says that Russia is 'living on borrowed time', and explains that the country's economy can only end in one of two scenarios: 'Prolonged decline or a shock. Either way, they continue their downward spiral towards financial disaster.'

'It's not a sustainable growth model to produce material for the war that is then destroyed on the battlefield,' he says, highlighting that Russia's economic faults have spread to the defence sector.

Nilson also believes that Russia is manipulating data to make Ukraine's allies believe that Russia is doing better than it is economically, despite the country being on the brink of a financial crisis.

The downward slide in Russia continues. Keep going, Putin, you can bring Russia still further down.

On the ground Russia continues advancing this year but by how much is not agreed

"Since the beginning of this year, a total of 80 settlements and more than 1,700 square kilometers of territory have come under our control," Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, said in footage released by the Defense Ministry Tuesday.

Reuters was unable to verify the battlefield accounts and a spokesperson for Ukraine's General Staff said he would not comment on the claim. Pro-Ukrainian maps indicate Russia has taken around 600 square kilometers this year.

The first footage has emerged of one of the Ukrainian army's underground bases. The exact location has not been disclosed, but the base is used by airborne units. The underground base is quite large, with corridors at least 400 meters long. It can accommodate up to six vehicles, including trucks. The base has a kitchen, storage areas, and other utility rooms. A permanent kennel for the unit's dog has also been installed on the base grounds. Warning signs have been posted on the pillars supporting the vaults, warning that using mobile phones may attract the attention of bombers.

Belgium 🇧🇪 is purchasing and refurbishing 15 additional Gepard Air Defense Systems for Ukraine. The systems are being purchased from OIP Land Systems and pulled from storage. The timeline for the delivery of the systems is not currently known, but one can assume that each unit will take several months to refurbish, with a modern radar system.
