Aselsan: The development of the semi-submersible USV with low visibility features with surprise effect was initiated within the scope of the USV Roadmap of SSB.

Btw, Aselsan used "kamikaze USV" term for Albatros USV. Kamikaze USV Albatros is developed under cooperation with Roketsan.

Semi-submersible USVs will be a menace against any foe in the future. SS USVs can be used as kamikaze vessels or can be armed with torpedoes. Sea surface radar clutter makes it really hard to spot them on top of that it is easier to apply radar and thermal RCS reductions to a SS unmanned vessel.

Field tests of ALBATROS-KAMİKAZE IDA have started


In ASELSAN's 2022 Annual Report, there is information that the development work of ALBATROS-KAMİKAZE IDA has come to an end and field tests have begun, in cooperation with ROKETSAN, within the scope of the IDA project, which is the offensive capability of the SSB.

It can be evaluated that the experiences gained in the development studies of ALBATROS-S will form an important infrastructure for ALBATROS-KAMİKAZE. With the ALBATROS-S, ASELSAN demonstrated its swarming abilities in 3 different tests previously conducted.

1. In the first stage, where navigation capabilities were at the forefront, the ability to automatically avoid obstacles and approach the target with a smaller herd was demonstrated.
2. In the second stage, where the joint mission capability with different types of IDAs was demonstrated, the ALBATROS-S herd, working together with ASELSAN-SEFİNE MİR İDA, which was determined as the herd leader, intercepted the representative foreign boat.
3. In the third stage, capabilities such as automatic target detection, approaching the target with different maneuvers and engaging in a swarm were demonstrated.

Both Mir with torpedos and Marlin with Kuzgun looks more like proofs of concept to me rather than actual products. Launchers are very rudimentary.

From electronic warfare to ASW, from kamikaze systems to asymmetric warfare, the diversity of products in this field is likely to expand very rapidly on a scale not seen in any other country, and this sheds light on the concepts of our navy in the 2030s.

While traditional USV concepts focus on coastal defense warfare, harbor and coastal security, the SSB's approach is more hybrid and covers a wide range of operational concepts for naval ships.

Imagine having 4/8/whatever USV's around TCG Anadolu (or another ship) armed with Atmaca's or aa missiles or torpedoes, or just using jammers 100 km away from the ship. It'll change the playfield considerably, imo.

I think the primary thing that will make these USVs dangerous is not the AShMs but the benefits they will provide especially in terms of ASW capabilities and ISTAR-EW. These boats can even be given low-altidude air defense capability. Here we can give dozens of different examples of payloads. Many of them can be seen as asymmetric boats, but if we consider that they will operate as a group/swarm with a common command, they are essentially like a distributed/peripheral missile/patrol corvettes, which makes them even more dangerous.

The motherships will have an army of protection above the water. A lot of attack boats in swarms that will give you trouble before they reach the mothership. It's not enough to neutralize one, you can't eliminate the advantage of the mothership until you neutralize all of them. While the attacking ship is dealing with these boats, its exact coordinates and maneuvering envelope are fully revealed, which means a missile salvo from the mothership or a USV outside the swarm in a few minutes. Of course, naval warfare is not as isolated as this, it is much more complex, but basically what I am saying is that it is inevitable that we will see these mothership capabilities and even navy trends directly dedicated to this purpose in the future. Not only from the Turkish navy but all over the world. And luckily we are one of the first countries to start this concept.

Although USVs are not very cheap systems, it is acceptable to lose them at a point of hot contact. But the loss of a navy ship would destroy the morale of any country.

Test torpedoes likely. Aselsan's ORKA could be in trials but i doubt if it is in sea trials. I can not differ whether the launcher and tubes are Aselsan's but it would make sense for Aselsan's torpedo launchers to be tested around this time before being installed on F-515.
