According to information published by "The Jerusalem Post" on April 5, 2022, the United States and Israel have approved the purchase of the Arrow 3 air defense missile systems by Germany.

At the beginning of April 2022, Germany had announced its interest to purchase the Israeli-made air defense missile system to increase their air defense capabilities against modern aerial threats including the Russian Iskander missiles based in Kaliningrad.

The Iskander-M, NATO designation SS-26 Stone is a short-range tactical missile system developed and produced in Russia. The Iskander missile is equipped with a solid-propellant single-stage guided-missile 9M723K1 controlled throughout the entire flight path and provided with a non-separable warhead. The missile is designed for mobile, autonomous operation and is capable of striking point and area targets at ranges o 50 – 400 km, for the latest version. The missile can carry conventional warheads, cluster bombs splinter munitions and allow for precision-strike operations.

The Arrow 3 is the latest development of the Arrow anti-ballistic missile jointly developed by Israel and the United States. An Arrow 3 battery is expected to intercept salvos of more than five ballistic missiles within 30 seconds. The Arrow 3 can be launched into an area of space before it is known where the target missile is going.

The Arrow 3 should be able to intercept ballistic missiles, especially those carrying weapons of mass destruction, at altitudes of over 100 km, and with a reported range of up to 2,400 km.
