Well Indonesian Navy trying to replace six old Frigate with FREMM, this beside two AH140 class, that's must be the source of their insecurity. Not to mention another proposal to get Four full fledged Destroyer

This also stemmed from the resolute Action of MoD to get 42 Rafale and F15EX, in which ultimately alter the balance of air power in the region. Unfortunately for them uncle Sam seems more serious to invest on the old sheriff Dundee from the Downtown, meanwhile Indonesia get cozy with the France and Turkey lately.

I think am clearly stated about maintenance cost issue and manpower issue, not about bankruptcy

They can have all the shiny thing in the world but the base of their economy is already almost fixed and population is also almost fixed. The highest gdp per capita in the world is around 120 k US Dollar, let say they can get to that level thus increasing their nominal gdp to be around 600-700 US billion Dollar. The highest ceilling for percentage of military spending over their gdp is around four percentage in history means the highest ceilling for military expenditure of around 24 to 28 billion US Dollar. That's still a nominal scenario under pressure

Indonesia still has wide margin to be playing at, unless the politician above doesn't fiddle much on political stunts based economy policy just like Dana Desa and 1000 magic cards program

Those resources mostly goes unnoticed and doesn't tranlated into real hard power and increasing the talent cultivation too much
