China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO) currently offers a self-propelled 105-mm anti-tank assault unit Assaulter 6x6 for the export market to work in the same combat formations with the well-known WZ551 6XXNNX series armored personnel carriers.
The base armored personnel carrier WZ551 (6 x 6) was developed in the 60-ies of the last century to meet the needs of the Chinese army and since then it has been continuously developed. It is known that it was exported to at least four countries.
The newest version of the WZ551 family, designated WMZ551, is still being offered by NORINCO.
The Assaulter anti-tank unit (6 x 6) first appeared in public during a military parade held in Beijing in October 2009. In the Chinese army, wheeled self-propelled anti-tank gun was designated PTL-02. Presumably, Chad bought Assaulter's 10 units, and Senegal bought several units and Djibouti alone (and this country presented its only car at the parade).

The PTL-02 or type 87 (also called WMA-301) wheeled armoured vehicle tank destroyer consists of an 6x6 chassis, and a turret armed with a 105 mm or 100 mm rifled gun. The PTL-02 is designed and manufactured by the Chinese Defense Company Norinco (China North Industries Corporation). The PTL02 was designed to engaged armoured vehicles, bunkers, fortifications, and other stationary or moving targets, but is unable to destroyer a heavily armed main battle tank (MBT). The tank destroyer was based on many mature technologies to reduce development costs and simplify logistic supply.
The Assaulter 105-mm cannon fires standard NATO ammunition, including armor-piercing sub-caliber, high-explosive fragmentation and anti-tank cumulative.
It can also launch 105-mm laser-guided anti-tank missiles manufactured by NORINCO, which has a maximum range of 5000 meters. It is equipped with a tandem cumulative warhead, which neutralizes the dynamic protection and pierces behind it armor steel 650 mm thick.
This laser-guided missile is based on the Russian design and can be fired from any 105-mm rifled tank guns, provided that a modified fire control system is installed in the machine, having the same laser guidance channel as is integrated in the Assaulter machine. The current 105-mm laser-guided missile is designated G2.
According to the company NORINCO, 105-mm gun has a high probability of hitting the first shot at fixed and moving targets while the vehicle is moving. Also installed a system of automatic tracki
