Yemen's Houthis have announced a "maritime embargo" against Saudi Arabia.

The Iran-backed group's military spokesman said it would begin immediately and was in retaliation for a Saudi blockade of ports and airports in Houthi-controlled north-western Yemen.

He gave few details about the embargo, but a Houthi media official said they were closing the Bab al-Mandab Strait - the Red Sea's southern gateway - to Saudi vessels.

In response, Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry condemned the allegation, vowing that the country "will take all necessary measures to protect its ships in accordance with international law".

I wonder if the Houthies have gotten drones and such to be able to implement the blockade

I reckon they do - from lran
if they have to rely on shipment from Iran to manage the Blockade I think the US embargo would be difficult to bypass. so unless they have some form of domestic drone and explosive production they can manage.

At least one of the oil tankers that yesterday U-turned in the Red Sea has performed a 2nd U-turn, heading again toward the Bab el-Mandeb controlled by the Houthis.

The vessel, carrying Saudi oil, is signalling "CHINA CREW & OWNER." At current speed, she will cross the strait in 12 hours.
