There was a trace of the FSB in the Dobrokhotov case. The license plates of the car that took the journalist to the police station are registered with the special service

The state license plates of the car in which Roman Dobrokhotov, editor-in-chief of The Insider *, was taken for interrogation to the police department today, coincided with the license plate numbers of the bus that was used in the exchange of citizens of Russia and Ukraine in 2019, were found by Open Media.

After a search in his apartment, police officers put Dobrokhotov into a Volkswagen car with a license plate "М 306 МР 77", the OM correspondent noted. In 2019, a silver Hyundai bus with the same license plates took Ukrainian prisoners to Vnukovo airport, from where they flew to Kiev, according to the footage of the Rossiya 24 report on the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine.

This, with links to the databases available to him, was confirmed to Open Media by Bellingcat investigator Hristo Grozev, who collaborated with Dobrokhotov and The Insider.

The FSB cannot officially conduct a libel case, but it can be used as a pretext for searches at Dobrokhotov's, says Grozev. “I believe that the purpose of these searches is to get his (Dobrokhotov - OM ) devices broken under a semi-legitimate pretext , and then suddenly 'find' something on them that indicates another crime, already 'subordinate' to the FSB,” suggests Grozev ... Dobrokhotov himself also told reporters that he considers the criminal case only as a "legal pretext" in order to "confiscate gadgets and a passport."

In November 2020, The Insider and Bellingcat released ajoint investigation into “Speaks and Shows the GRU. How the Ministry of Defense Spreads Fakes through Foreign Journalists ”, in which it was alleged that the Dutch journalist Maximilian van der Werff allegedly collaborated with the GRU and received money from the Ministry of Defense for disseminating information about the downed Boeing in Donbass.
The criminal libel case, witnessed by Dobrokhotov, was initiated precisely at the request of der Werff, RIA Novosti reported, citing the lawyer of the Dutch journalist.
What happened
On the morning of July 28, the police came with a search to Roman Dobrokhotov. Now he is in the status of a witness in a criminal libel case, lawyer Alexei Pryanishnikov from Human Rights Protection of the Postcard told Open Media. According to the lawyer, the searches were carried out by officers of the Moscow district police unit, namely the investigative group of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the South-West Administrative District.
