IMO a complete victory for NATO in Afghanistan is a real possibility if they could use the Taliban as their CT operatives on the ground against Al-Qaeda or ISKP. adding that to the many gradual compromise by the Taliban in governing their state that is more in line with globally accepted norms.

In a first such official communication between the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and India, the outfit has written to the government for resumption of flights between the two countries. India Today is in possession of the letter that the new regime in The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has written to India.

The letter, addressed to Director General of Civil Aviation Arun Kumar, has been written by Alhaj Hameedullah Akhunzada, acting minister, Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority. It is dated September 7.

After extending his compliments to the DGCA, Akhunzada writes, "As you are well informed recently, the Kabul Airport was damaged and dysfunctional by American troops before their withdrawal. By technical assistance of our Qatar Brother, the Airport became operational once again and a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) in this regard was issued on 6 September, 2021."

The minister then requested the resumption of flights between India and Afghanistan.

"The intention of this letter is to keep the smooth passenger movement between two countries based on the signed MoU and our National Carriers (Ariana Afghan Airline & Kam Air) aimed to commence their scheduled flights. Therefore, Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority requests you to facilitate their commercial flights," the letter said.

"The Civil Aviation of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan avails its highest assurance," Akhunzada further said.

The entire US military leadership is baying for Pakistan's blood. The reason is scapegoat. The fact of the matter is all these star studded generals just few weeks ago were bloating on about the mighty ANA they had trained, tooled up with numbers cited above 300,000 men with a airforce.

But when push came to shove the whole rotten structure fell apart within 24 hours with Taliban literally walzinbg into Kabul catching the entire world in surprise. The shock in the faces of the US generals was palpable - so was the red faces of White House. We all saw how they all began to point fingers at each other. Then the mass exodus we saw in Kabul Airport with the farce that was the evacuation.

Nowe the crapfest is over and true to form to recover their prestige they are blaming it on 'evil Pakistan'. Apparently a failing country with a budget smaller than a small US city defeated the might of the US Army, NATO, 20 years, 2 trillion dollars and 300,000 ANA.

Lol. No one has ever said Pakistan "defeated" anyone. The accusation against Pakistan is that while happily taking American alms and weapons they were backstabbing the Americans by harboring the Taliban.

I don't think Pakistan took any alms, something which you seem to be obsessed about but given that India is the biggest recipient of alms in the world this is understandable.

There are two aspects to this allegation. First was Pakistan actively involved in supporting or giving refuge to the Haqqani network. This is not proven and if indeed there was proof including the address of the Haqqani leadership in Quetta who was to stop the mightest power in history from taking them out over period of 20 years? Certainly not Pakistan as we saw with the OBL raid.

Then there is the bigger question. Even if there was some support or active refuge provided by Pakistan was that sufficient to make material differance to the outcome of the war in Afghanistan?

If the answer is no then why all the drama? If it is true that Pakistani 'backstabbing' [you use script apt for a Bollywood movie] made 'material differance' then are they suggesting Pakistan vicariously defeated the might of USA, NATO and the West?

A a broader strategic level Pakistan did nothing more than look after or try to look after it's national interests - a right it has given that Afghanistan is a neighbour who has direct impact on the Af-Pak region including million of refugees.

You can see how Turkey has followed a very forward policy in Syria by actualling entering that country and using military force to guard it's interests including supporting the Turkmen and suppressing the PKK terrorists amongst the Kurds. This has led to Turkey at times being in the opposite camp with fellow NATO ally USA and caused much rancour.
