If we choose Kawasaki C-2 and A330 MRTT combo, both aircraft use GE CF6 (80C2K1F and 80E1A4).

i couldn't find probe on the latest IFX design, would you like to share?

IFX will use probe, while KF21 for Korean will use boom type of air refueling. It is what has been stated based on the plan. You can try to google to find article about it.

So based on current plan, they will use boom, well I dont know about it, never ask about this one to the engineer. But yes it could be made to make the development less complicated

Just add new development though, the prototype for Indonesia will be made in Korea. We dont have facility yet to produce composite material for KF21 prototype, we just send the aluminium based components for several KF21 prototypes. I also think we are not ready to make a complete plane in DI before 2026. Financial problem that previously exist slow down our engineers readiness to produce the plane at the moment, particularly the production team.

I hope the financing issue is solved during Cabinet meeting held recently where SMI said she will support the priority programs, in which KF21/IFX has become one of Indonesia priority programs based on Perpres No 8 2021.

Nope, only 1 prototype for PTDI (inshaAllah). This is exclusive belongs to PTDI for their fighter development program, of course it will likely be part of testing as well related to current KF21/IFX program. All the testing data will be shared to each other (Korea and Indonesia).

Production facility is not yet ready, not only for composite production facility but other as well. There will likely be another hangar made.

The proposal to finance the production facility, our financial contribution, separate R&D development ( where preparation for mass production of IFX is the main focus), and other related to management office in Korea have been submitted. There is problem as I have revealed previously related to Bappenas and Ministry of Finance to readily disburse the money, but I hope the problem have already been solved during recent Cabinet Meeting in Presidential Palace in Jakarta inshaAllah.

PTDI has already plan to do something big about KF21/IFX production line, most probably will not be realized during Jokowi administration. It is because I believe they have expected that Indonesia Air Force will buy the planes like 150-200 planes until 2045, particularly by seeing the combination of Indonesia economy projection, geopolitical matter (SCS dispute, Indonesia-China power balance in SEA region, and Indonesia growing ambition geopolitically). Personally I have give them the idea to develop Stealth Wingman drone as well in the future.

I have some concerns about this. Except if PTDI has the plan to also build our own 2nd and probably 3rd prototypes or as many as needed, having only one prototype doesn't really bring much confidence considering that our version will have some differences compared to the KF-21.

Ah, the expectation. They can achieve that for sure, as long as they have ramped up their production facility and capability and that the performance of the end products at least match the requirements of TNI-AU.

These are the minimum they have to achieve in order to minimize the chance for some "rekanan" and overly business-oriented generals/air marshalls to sway the decisions to their favor.

Our version doesnt have much different with KF 21 for Korean Airforce, just recently the program manager said IFX will use similar boom system as well for refueling ( contrary to previous plan), so it will reduce the complexity of the program.

Giving 1 prototype to PTDI means PTDI has been given the right to produce/own the fighter for their own development. We will not get this right if we buy imported plane since the foreign OEM will only allow their plane to be used by our Air Force only. This is also part of reverse engineering in legal way as our local industry will get the right to use the plane for any kind of activities, including research. Just see when Defense ID is formed, so basically all SOE companies and even SOE Universities (ITB/UI) can use the plane for research purposes. I believe we can make second prototype by our own if there is money available for that.

PTDI is now plan to increase the production of their production line. The current plan is to ramp up production for NC 212i from 3 planes in a year into 6 planes a year in 2022.

To increase the production significantly needs automation system and it needs huge investment, but I expect KF21/IFX production facility that we try to build will likely use automation, including robotic system.

----------------------------------------------------------------

President has revealed the plan to make PTDI gets 4 times land compared to current facility in Bandung, where in early 2021 the plan has been bolden where West Java Governor will also participate to make it happen. We know since 2016 Jokowi has plan to build PTDI factory in Kertajati, West Java.

Current IFX is pretty much KFX block 1 minus K-link.

PTDI has composite manufacturing capability already as they are part of supplier for Boeing and also Airbus planes. So the composite manufacturing facility for IFX look like will produce different kind of composite components. More likely to produce components from Stealthy raw material (RAM). This can be useful if we are about to develop Stealth wingman program in the future.

Current facility cannot produce Composite components for KF21/IFX.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Indonesia’s manufacturing support for Boeing commercial airplanes includes suppliers producing avionics systems, composite parts and precision machine parts.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PTDI has more than 40 years of experiences in:

  • Engineering work package for new product development, product testing and certification, reverse engineering development, etc.
  • Design and manufacture tools and jigs.
  • Detailed part manufacturing, metal forming/fabricated part, composite components, bonding components, etc.
  • Sub-assembly, major assembly, and final assembly.
PTDI is a well-known, reliable sub-contractor for Airbus Defence & Space, Airbus Helicopters, Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. (BHTI), Spirit Aero System UK, and KAI.

  • Final Assembly Line, Delivery Center, Aerostructure Package (horizontal and vertical tail plane, rear fuselage), customer support (Service Center and Computer Based Training) for CN295.
  • Delivery Center, Customization, and Customer Support for H225/H225M, H215, AS365/AS565, H125/H125M, H135/H135M, H145/H145M.
  • Production and commercialization for Super Puma AS332 C/C1/L/L1.
  • Produce tail boom and fuselage for MKII Super Puma/Cougar Family.
  • Produce tail boom, door assy, door post, pylon and ducts for BELL 412 series and BELL Huey II.
