The components for KF21/IFX prototypes that are built in Indonesian Aerospace (PTDI) is for alluminium based components, while for composite we should have made for prototype 5 but currently production facility for composite production is not yet present.

Indonesia Aerospace will produce 50 percent of wing part and 50 percent for tail part for ALL KF21/IFX for Korean, Indonesia, and export market. We will assemble and do system integration works for all IFX program.

how in earth this can be ?
Does S.Koreans not interested in KFX anymore ? Or the cost of development can be achieve in smaller price ?

It shows their development cost projection is quite good and even after 6 years since the cost is estimated the program manager think they can slash it further. Remember it is for block 1 development only.

It shows their development cost projection is quite good and even after 6 years since the cost is estimated the program manager think they can slash it further. Remember it is for block 1 development only.

IIRC the reduced cost is due to revised tax benefit....as the program is now classified as "defense goods" and becomes eligible for tax exemption. So the reduced cost benefits both Sokor and Indonesia..

Why we have to do it ourself?
IFX use the same radar, censor, avionics, and weapons.

Yes of course, IFX will use similar components, including the critical components. The amount of components produced in Indonesia can potentially be increased if PTDI has the capability to supply more and the demand for KF21 is increasing in the future. Even when PTDI is not part of developer of Airbus A 380 program but PTDI supply components for the program as PTDI is already part of supply chain of many of world class airplane and helicopter manufacturers.

When PTDI assemble all of the components to make one complete plane, of course there will be system integration job. This is why there is propulsion engineers, avionics integration engineers, certification engineers, flight performance engineers etc in PTDI as we can see on previous N 219 program video.

Dubai, 18 November 2021 – The Indonesia Ministry of Defence has placed an order for two Airbus A400M aircraft in multirole tanker and transport configuration.

The contract, which will become effective in 2022, will bring the total number of A400M operators to ten nations. The agreement includes a complete maintenance and training support package. A Letter of Intent was also signed for the future acquisition of four additional A400M aircraft.

”This new order will further expand the A400M footprint in the Asia-Pacific region. The A400M offers outstanding capabilities to Indonesia, providing its air force with the perfect platform to deliver large and heavy loads into remote areas and multiplying its airpower projection thanks to reliable aerial refuelling capabilities,” said Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space.

Capable of operating from rough and short runways, the A400M will strengthen the Indonesian Air Force’s airlift capabilities to rapidly respond to any crisis, demonstrated in the aftermath of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck the country in 2018. The A400M was the first large airlifter able to deliver heavy loads like fuel trucks and excavators as well as food, clothes and medical supplies using a damaged and short runway in Palu (Central Sulawesi, Indonesia).

“The A400M is a truly multi-role platform and will greatly enhance the Indonesian Air Force’s tactical air-to-air capabilities. This aircraft will play a key role in other key missions including paratrooping and heavy cargo transportation. We are also looking at additional A400M acquisition in the near term, with future A400M developments such as firefighting an important capability we are exploring jointly with Airbus. The A400M will become a national asset and the cornerstone for Human Assistance and Disaster Response missions, beyond its tactical and air-to-air capabilities,” said Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia.

The A400M can carry heavy and outsize loads across strategic distances, deliver these into tactical locations, while offering the added aerial refuelling capability. An ideal solution to meet air forces’ multirole tanker and transport aircraft requirements.

With the ability to fly fast and at high and extremely low altitudes, the A400M is the ideal platform for refuelling fighter and other major aircraft by means of two underwing refuelling pods. Its built-in air-to-air refuelling capability allows rapid reconfiguration as a tanker, making it easily adaptable to changing operational scenarios and missions. This adaptability is unique to the A400M, which can itself also be refuelled in flight.

couldn't refuel the F-16 with booms, so that means there's still room for A330 MRTT ???

remember this agreement of a400m purchase.

"Documents from this meeting further indicate that PTDI is pushing to manufacture more segments of the CN235 at its facilities in Bandung, Indonesia."

"These segments are namely the aircraft's inboard flaps, nose fuselage, engine cowlings, nose and main landing gears assemblies, and centre wing box assembly."

like it or not, that means PT DI need to invest for another infrastructure to support CN-235 airframe production, also indirectly paving the way for indonesian future development of medium transport aircraft by having this infrastructure.

i hope our SOE would utilize that blessing to its fullest, and i hope we can see our indigenously designed medium transport aircraft in the future.

I think it is an expensive choice for Indonesia. The threat and impact circles are very narrow country

Guh.... not sure if I should be happy or not.
I think it is an expensive choice for Indonesia. The threat and impact circles are very narrow country
C130J is not a bad choice, for transport and tanker IMO. Cheaper and we already have some of it (older var).
